Pooky - its simply about time, currently I do three loads a day, if I got a smaller one it would be four or possibly five loads and there just arent enough hours in the day for me to keep swapping stuff around. Our last one was normal sized and I was drowning on washing permanently - some days.
The large one also does duvets and with DS8 thats really handy - if hes cold he wont go to the toilet, he just wees on duvets etc.
Mardatha - I have just seen the aqualtis, it looks nice.0 -
D&DD - I have been going to apply for ages, and will definitely look into it, but I need something quick.
DS8 has decided to panic about it now, and is worried about the old one, he is in major panic mode and getting upset about it all - stupid me, he saw me getting upset about it and stressed and now he knows its something to worry about. He doesnt want a new one apparently - he loves the old one - he will miss it if it goes!!0 -
Have PM'd you hun fingers crossed they can help as quickly as they did us.
Being bumped off by DS3 for now
Til later peepsXX

Hey FUDDLE - He who knows has just looked at figures for a fridge freezer using electricity and has come up with 15 - 16p a day for running costs(on 20% of time) - if the freezer is on for 300 hours a month that is almost 14 days continuous. Most freezers only cut in when the temperature needs to cool, so the running cost for 12 hours (i.e 50% of the time in a day) would be a maximum of 50p. Hope this helps, Lyn and him xxx.0

Katie there is one piece of vital advice I would like you to store in your head when talking about bankruptcy and repossession. This is really important so if you say nothing else to her please tell her this.. and U to as it sounds like she's going to have to hold her hand through this.
There is something called a Deed of Acknowledgement mortgage companies try to get people to sign. When giving up the home for repossession, even if it's taken by the official receiver the mortgage company will try to get a signature. Your friend must not sign any thing regarding that house after the date of bankruptcy if she does, and it's what the mortgage company want her do and will hide it and flower over it (dare I say trick), she will take on liability for any money owed even after bankruptcy. The bankruptcy will cover her only if she doesn't sign anything. Other than that, don't worry yourself over this. If you need a hand, give me a shout via PM. Unfortunately I know a lot about this.0 -
Kidcat - I have a Whirlpool AWOE9120 which takes a 9kg load (enough for a double duvet) and is A-rated for energy. I got it last autumn so not sure if it is still a current model - it was £279 I think. I am very pleased with it so far...

).

DH didn't think it would cost that much either.
A case of been there done that Evie, but it's where my fighting spirit comes from. It was a frightening time and something I read and read and read about to make sure we were not walked all over.0 -
Are my anxiety tablets calming me down to let the girls do abnormally dangerous stuff or is it ok for them to play out in their garden with the gate tied up when I'm mostly watching but not exclusively. I'm very confused. I don't kno what is normal. They are 4 on Sat and 8 next month.
I'd be annoyed about them leaving the gate open but not for coming in the garden to knock at the door. If it was the postman for example and he'd shut the gate behind him would you have been so upset?
My kids (now 10 & 15) often played out in the cul-de-sac at the back of our house when they were about seven onwards. I would keep half an eye on them from the kitchen and study but I wouldn't be watching them full time, no. And my elder one used to take the younger out when he was 10 and she was 5, with strict instructions about keping up on the grass. So no, I don't think letting kids out front in a secure garden would require your 100% supervision, no. I think that's within normal risk.Val.0 -
kidcat - this website http://www.lovethewayiam.co.uk/ has a whole list of grant providers if you decide you need them at some point. Sent our application in last week to Family Fund for a car seat for DD that swivels to make it easier to get her in and out of the car. Not heard anything back yet but wasn't expecting to as apparently they deal with them in date received order so probably not a quick fix anyway. Also one thing that we hadn't thought to look at until I was trying to find grants to help MIL make adaptations after PIL comes out of hospital is the masons - if you have any masonic connections (dad, grandad, godfathers) they provide all sorts of support for families. PIL was very active in the masons when they lived in Southshire and is actually a life member so have added them to our personal list of potential places to apply for grants for more expensive equip. (Car seat with turntable alone is thick end of £1300!! and will eventually need one for DS as well)
I am so fed up of the summer holidays now. It shouldn't matter really as DD doesn't even start nursery until September except that most of her activities have stopped for the summer so she's going stir crazy and with both her and DS needing support there's only so much we can do just the 3 of us. We've been out for lunch today with my mum (Grandma), Granny coming for afternoon tea on Friday for her birthday, going to take her to a play place on Sat am when OH is off (DD that is - not Granny!) and they've got a party to go to on Sunday so hopefully that should tire her out a bit.0
