Pops it was very insensitive me posting that quote about homes and love. I do believe though, that love and dreams means memories too.
I do hope Lennox is granted a stay of execution and that they investigate fully whether he is a pitbull before they end his life. Would you let us know how it goes. It's my puppy's birthday tomorrow so I hope for good news. It's actually not certain whether it's his birthday as was found at about a week old by the side of the road. Judging by his development they guessed it was July 10th.
Chilli and wedges for tea tonight. I have never made hm wedges so need to go investigate how to do it. Again, I've always bought frozen. Shouldn't admit this stuff should I?!:o
Good idea about the draught excluder standing up.I had thought last night, while lying in bed trying to get to sleep, that I could tape a strip of bubble wrap down the door, so when it closed it would get wedged in between the gap. Worth a try. It might look a bit unsightly but no worse than duct tape I used last year
Off to go fly round the house on a major tidy. I must study tomorrow so I need it all done today.
Morning All(Just)
It's been raining again but I've missed it probably because there are no winds and it's not lashing against the window...no plans to go out or spend money today. The only thing on my list now might be batteries for my torch or possibly invest in a better and brighter one.
Hello Bonnie(Thanks for the welcome)
Fuddle, I never thought anything about your comment being insensitive, I think it is true. I may miss having no loved one's in my life now but I did and you do have memories. If I am forced to move or lose my home it's a good thing to try and remember what's important.

Pleased you mentioned pectin kittie. I have some in the cupboard from Approved Food. My intention is to make a blackcurrent jam when they're ready (if ). Does this sound like a viable plan to you?
So pleased you could harvest/salvage and use some strawberries. Mine didn't fruit this year but it's their first year (rooted from mother plants last year) so hoping to get some next year.
Also, remember MIL gave me chunk of rhubarb? I planted it. There's still some shoots left on it. Could I cut those and make some rhubarb and apple crumble?0 -
No fuddle I would not have bought it. I won't buy anything at the door. I think you have to be very hard-hearted but if people are unscrupulous they are able to succeed by making nice people feel bad. No need to feel you have to explain yourself either

Fuddle do you have a priority booking form for the Sun hols? If so you can already book online. if you don't I have one spare you can use. We're saving The Sun coupon's again to get a weekend break at the Haven site near the Lakes. Haven isn't our cup of tea kind of thing but it's cheap, they take the dog, the kids get some fun and we all get stress free time together.
It will be Oct/Nov this time though so we'll need the electric radiator for the bedrooms.. brrrrr (but fun!) I think I will take slow cooker too
Thanks for that.
I have been able to get two things on Freecycle. First was a bundle of wool from a mum at the school gates would you believe and the second I posted a wanted for a breadmaker. A gentleman contacted me to say would I like it and very excitely I replied yes please. He contacted me again to say I sounded very immature and that he hopes I did actually collect it because the young ones always mess him around. I apologised and felt the need to write a whole long email about me, my family and what I was trying to do. I was so nervous going to pick it up but he waved to the kids in the car and gave me some bread mix too. I guess if he's been messed around then he is going to be guarded. I have a wanted on right now for a bed base and offering my little ones trike. Not heard a thing on either. I don't use it much. I haven't had any abuse though.
Just had a man knocking at the door selling freshly filleted fish. I didn't buy as you know I have a meal plan and stick to it. I felt a bit mean not supporting people who are trying to make some money but then again, how do I know it's 1) kosher and 2) safe to eat. Would you have bought?0 -

Byatt very interesting your point about the psychological side, people getting angry as they feel they've been passed over (not good enough) or that they've missed out on something so they feel hard done by. Hmmmm. Material for a thesis there
I thought that too.0 -

no definitely not. Could have been basso or could have been a job lot of frozen fish treated in any which way. So sorry for these people if genuine though, perhaps they should have some sort of certification
There was a company buying stuff in bulk and re-packaging to sell to the guillable, came here and I looked them up on the net. A big scam sucking in people with redundancy money to pay for stock and vans
Just heard of big problems locally with rapeseed, they are unlikely to get the combines on the fields to harvest :eek:0 -
As has been said by a few on here Nellie,
I hope your son is not disappointed by the torch relay and he gets his photo.
Watch out for the giants(adults)stepping into the road blocking his view they only care about themselves, the cheap rubbish being touted by the sellers, you'll see the lorries promoting the sponsors alright and they make plenty of noise but often the torch goes passed so quickly and is often surrounded by so many you don't always see it.
If you can get located so you are looking down the road rather than from the side would be better. Or if you can find a building so you are looking down onto it.
I stood for an hour with a camera and missed the torch and the barer altogether."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Thanks Popperwell, didn't really think about position but will now scour the map looking for an appropriate bend in the road.
No buildings as such on our route so have to hope that he catches a glimpse.
He knows not to ask for bits'n'bobs from street sellers - I've got him a wenlock keyring bought in the sale at Argoooose which I'll give him after the torch relay
His photos will probably be of the lorries and the police, he's fascinated by both so I'm hoping to get a least a blurry flame shot, if not we'll cut out the pics from the local free paper!!
I use freecycle/freegle quite a bit both for offering and receiving - only yesterday we picked up a beautiful short bookcase that we've now got in the top landing, but I do agree it can be very hit and miss with being messed around.0 -

Things will be tight but I'll survive...others do and with friends like yourself there will be help, advice and support:)surely all will be well...and thank you.
Think I'll manage to do a lot today and see my way clear regarding a lot of tidying up;)nearly got my food store sorted apart from the writing of the lists and dates of what I have. It's gone into the dining room.
The pantry is too small and you can't get at everything. Still don't have as much as I thought I had or have spent money on...In reality there is probably more than enough for one person really...
If I clear out some of the built in wardrobes(have a clothes tidy up/clear out)perhaps I can put my food store into one of them and out of sight upstairs...
I have filled ten 30L capacity crates but sometimes the shape and height of items means you don't get as much into a crate as you hope but they are really heavy..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson
