GQ I am so sorry you went through all that stress. Its not the first time 'human error' has caused such trouble as we all know.
I went for a lovely stress free trip to Ikea with Dd and partner, no DGs, no OH ..... aaah, just wandering round. Got the fleeces to line my beautiful curtains I made, pillows to make cushions for DGS from a quilt cover that wasnt working in its original job and a loo brush - 80p - last of the big spenders. Then nipped in a craft shop for a ball of wool and found out my favourite garden centre now has a craft shop in it :j and a bargain priced one at that :j
Got home to make lunch for myself and OH only to find OH stressed to bits as we didnt have enough cash to pay a big bill and worse 2 ..yes 2... brown envelopes on the mat. No I will not panic, well I did, then found they were for DS from the tax office ....phew...Turns out OH paid the bill on Tuesday, he was so stressed with the hospital that he forgot. Crisis averted on both counts.
Katieowl, what a terrible situation. Do hope it gets resolved soon. Your health is something you cannot put a price on and if a builder gets sickly something is seriously wrong as they usually have the constitution of an ox! I went through it with my Dd in a house with faulty gas heating a couple of years ago when DGS was tiny, its not worth thinking about.Clearing the junk to travel light

OMG, it has suddenly got nearly dark.......... better be an incoming rainstorm because if it's TEOTWAWKI, I really am not in the mood and will be very cross..........:rotfl:
Relax, WCS, it was only yet another downpour. I'm at the bottom of what is humorously-called a light well and if the skies cloud over it gets very murky in here in moments. A bit woo-woo. Mark you, the flat before this one was in a basement, so I am moving up in the world.
We can TEOTWAWKI on another day, when we're all feeling chipper. You bring scones and I'll put t'kettle on.
I have cooked, eaten and even washed the dishes so that the kitchen is looking semi-civilised. Just chilling now and coming down from the adrenalin high of yesterday evening. Think that was another day shaved off my life-expectancy.............
Hope everyone has a good evening.
Oooh, forgot to say, Fuddle, like the look of that pattern. IMO, fashion should be followed from a safe distance, possibly whilst staring, pointing and giggling at advanced practioners, but then again I'm probably one of the least stylish people you'll meet. And I'm happy with that.;)
ETA. you post appeared whilst I was doing mine; congrats on the OH's business, HJ.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Can't believe how quickly the new Aldi is being built, it's gone from being a basic steel frame to looking very much like a building in just a couple of weeks. At the moment the footpath where I cycled past Pops is closed for resurfacing - good job too as it was awful. Do stop me and say hi if you see me anywhere in town, Pops, just yell 'Hi Andrea!' .
The little boy who was killed at Beamish Museum in the trailer accident is being buried today; he is the grandson of a couple I know quite well. They are devoted to their grandchildren and this is just horrible. I hadn't realised it was him until after I got back from my break.
Made good use of the cheap .greengrocer - he's got the same name as a famous athlete of the long ago past, which amused me.
Hi Andrea,
Will do and one day soon I'll pop along to that Tuesday meeting...Amazed that I have missed you. Yes Aldi is coming on very quicky and will be open soon.
I would buy £10 worth of frozen veg with my Tesco voucher but haven't the space in the freezer. And I doubt that will happen soon so they'll just be used for general shopping. I just received an invite you won't see every day - in June I toddled along to an open day at a cemetery ......yes you read that right. It was an old one that had fallen into disrepair and left. I took lots of photos which they have used and they have travelled the world, I know as people write to me telling me how their great, great, great granddad is buried there. It closed in 1928. I also get asked to translate wording that is visible - its a Jewish cemetery, not just the Hebrew but the dates, thank heavens for the web, last night I was asked what does the 10th day of kislev 5622 mean (16th November 1861) which is visible on one of the photos I took.
The plan was to open it up as a nice place for locals to come and sit with flowers and commune with nature as the area it is in is totally built up and very bleak....so its been all cleaned up and they have a big grant from the lottery and now it is to be reconsecrated and that is what my invite is to the reconsecration service followed by refreshments. As I said not a usual invite but I will toddle along and mix with the bigwigs - the invite comes from the local councillor, so is it coming out of council tax money or the grant......will I be living it up on tax payers expense I wonder..........hicNeed to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

I've been in Primark today and if that shop is stocked with fashion then I'm best off out of it... I picked up the kids' socks and ran!(obviously paid)
About to log off. Stoving headache. I want to unpick my legwarmers that I'm knitting but don't know if the pain will let me. It's took so long but the beginning looks amateur and the end looks canny goodSo starting again... 4 weeks everyone, 4 weeks! Can't wait to read about what Piers thinks for the next bit of weather.
Katie I do hope your loved ones have somewhere safe to rest their head tonight and get it sorted soon. Is it their first place together? Is this the place the grand doggie is going to live?
GQ I hope for you a calmer rest of the week. A big shock for you the last day or so. Not nice. You do right covering your back but you know thatI think every week I'm surprised about what job you have done or what qualifications you have... but I wasn't surprised to learn about the job you do now

: I still can't get over the sheer unutterable incompetance of it, it really rocks your confidence. I'm lucky that I'm articulate and able and have a background in admin and can handle such things but what about some poor soul who is barely literate?
Yes that is exactly what my GP was saying to me on Tuesday.
I thank you for the suggestions re my MP. TBH Im not that impressed with her input so far and it has mostly been OH running around trying to galvanise support. Anyway thankfully that is forthcoming.I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0
