Hello Everyone
kidcat I hope that your roof gets sorted with the minimum of fuss and bother. Fingers crossed x
PAH Don't let the idiots at the Housing Association fob you off. Good luck x
Hello thriftylass The best of luck with stopping smoking.
Yesterday was mine and DH's 17th wedding anniversary and it was a lovely, if expensive, day. We had lunch and dinner out and did some shopping. A waiter at lunch made me feel so old by declaring that he was 3 when we got married and that he wasn't even in nursery
Just a pity that it was tempered with bad news. My friend's Mom lost her battle with cancer yesterday morning and another friend's Grandad died in the afternoon. I'm waiting to find out when my friend's Mom's funeral is and I will go with another friend if DH can't get timne off work. Luckily I have a few choices of black clothes to wear depending on the weather.
My family might be visiting tomorrow so I've spent the morning trying to get the house clean to my Mom's standards and trying to toddler proof my house. My sis has told me not to worry about it as my nephew is into everything at the mo and nothing is safe from him.
I'm feeling at bit flat today and in need of some get up and go. I still need to sort something out for dinner, but am watching the diving and doing some more knitting. I'm not sure what the knitting is going to look like if GB win, but it's a risk I'm willing to take.
Take care everyone xxxx0 -
Pah our housing association has a residents forum type thing, a friend of mine chairs it and he regularly fights for repairs. It may be worth enquiring if yours has something similar.
Technically we have one, but its part of another areas. We don't really have one that I can go to as its on paper only - went along to a meeting a few years ago and was told sorry they cannot help me as they have enough problems for their own area and my area is mainly made up with young people in the flats and the sheltered accommodation. So the few houses left are elderly people who in their 90s and me. Everyone else has bought their house, so no-one left wants to be bothered with a tenants assoc and why HA are getting away with things round here.
When he told me he was from the north I said how I knew what they got done and he actually denied it. So told him what friend had, had done and so he asked her name and address which I gave, then he changed tack and said well yes some insides have been redone but all the outsides will be done in north and south at same time. So I said would he like to take me in his car to where friend lives so he can see all the new walls, gardens etc., suddenly that was the pilot scheme - every house!!!!!. Eventually he admitted the north did seem to get more done, but only because it needed it as they were not lucky enough to live in such a nice area. So as my area is nice I do not need a decent front door, I should just be happy with my lot as I live here.
I know I am lucky I do live on edge of to what is nicest part of city, but its beyond me why this gives HA the right to spend all their money on the north and not us, they didn't make this part of the city nice and didn't exist when I moved here. At least the council ignored everyone fairly, never once did I get the excuse you don't get as you live in a nice area.
:mad:Just had an email from someone in HA saying they have no record of me ever being promised a front door or me ever phoning about one or surveyors coming out. I have had people here when surveyors have come out so I have witnesses. Can only presume they are wiping all records so if I go down legal route only time I am officially supposed to have mentioned a front door is last Friday. I showed then surveryor today the form I had from the improvements team showing me the new front door, had my name and address on it, but he said so old it doesn't count. So basically I am a lair I can take being called most things but not a liar it literally makes me ill.
When I was 15 my so called best friend said she had given me some dance ticket money, she hadn't. She told others and soon it was round the school I had stolen the money, I was off school, with the 'flu' for 3 weeks. Another friend had gone on holiday and when she came back she said she had the money, 'best'friend had given it to her before she went. I ended up getting a public apology in hall one morning in front of whole school as everyone thought I was a thief. Since then whenever anyone tries to make out I am a liar I feel ill, cannot help it.
Am sitting here violently shaking and crying........my spacebar keeps sticking and I am not helping by thumping it.
Totally daft I know over a front door, but its the ease at which they will destroy your credibility to suit themselves that it getting to me. No records on their system means I could not go any further if I wanted to.:mad:Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

Sourdough.
wondered if someone could help me please ? I remember someone mentioning they baked sourdough bread. Have followed "Jamie Happy Days" and made some starter and then baked a really tasty loaf. Put my lump of starter (reserve) in fridge. Made another two smaller loaves (smashing) 3 days later and put the current "reserve dough" in fridge again. Now much as we like the sourdough we don't want it all the time, but I don't want it to die. Can someone tell me how to keep it going but perhaps only using it every 10 days or so, maybe longer ? I get you have to refresh it but how oftain ? Every day ? or how long can I leave it in between feeds?
I really should be greatful to anyone for any help. Thanks for listening. jac xx. I am stuck 10 pages to catch up so take your time if you need to !0 -
For you possesion
there's pink in some of these but I think maybe a purple tone would be nice. She's only 7 but if you get it right and its what she wants, it could last here right through her teens. It's difficult isn't it!?
too grown up?
I'd like white walls with a feature wall black and accentuated with pink and purple. If only for the DH

I love the top bedroom Fuddle, think OH might object though!!
My Benefits saga continues :-(
Went for my sign on at jobcentre today and she asked how I was getting on, I said that being 29 weeks pregnant meant there was next to nothing suitable and she agreed. She then said that they would pay me up to today but then did not class that I was ABLE to actively seek work, She didn't doubt that I was still willing though. I haven't heard about Maternity Allowance yet so she said I would have to try and claim Income support or OH might have to do a joint claim for us. So its all up in the air again! The bit that frustrates me is that the system is sooooooooooo confusing that they don't even seem to understand the best options.
Havent caught up with thread yet so hugs to anyone that needs them x xDebt at LBM [strike]£17,544[/strike] £5700:TOver £14,000 PAID OFF :T

(((PipsMum))))
Its so daft instead of you just smoothly go from one benefit to the other they make each one totally separate - you would think if you are expecting they would have it all in place that you move from JSA to MA once you have proved you are expecting (which you would expect them to do as soon as you found out or had to put a JSA Claim in. Even if they automatically included you in OH claim the minute they stopped yours but no, they hope people might delay so they can save a few bob for a few weeks, never mind what people have to go through in the mean time.

To not know what money you're going to have coming in must be really worrying Pips Mum and at the later stages of pregnancy you really don't need that. It would be so helpful if they could have given you a breakdown of what you are entitled to in your given circumstances so you know what to expect financially.0

Fuddle my DGD1 has a very similar bedroom to 3rd one from bottom only she has a carpet to match the walls, she got it for her 13th birthday at begining of the month. All her furniture is black with pink edging, drawer handles again same as wallpaper.Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

All you doggie people keep your fingers crossed/send prayers/good vibes for my DD please!
She's made contact with a rescue centre (the one that my dogs came from) as they've a boy in Leicester, she spotted online, who is DESPERATE for a new forever home. The local rescue centre have refused to consider them for a dog, because they don't have a garden of their own (although they potentially will have when an eyesore outbuilding is knocked down) but they are literally two minutes from two open areas suitable for dog-walking and about a mile from one of the biggest beaches in West Wales. DD has to call back tonight and talk to the lady who is dealing with his case, apparently his foster place has fallen through too, and they are now having to pay for kennels for him. Now I've seen him I want her to have him too....
It makes me mad that some of the rescues have these arbitrary rules, as DD and her BF could walk into any pub and hand over a wad of sticky tenners, and be given a pup whatever their circumstances or living conditions. DD has lived with dogs all her life, and been in charge of staffies since she was ten! She is desperate to rescue a dog that needs a home. One of my neighbours in London was refused a small yorkie type dog by Battersea, when she went to them to rescue a dog, as she'd owned them all her adult life - she was 60ish. They turned her down as they said she'd be 'too soft' with it! She of course, then got a puppy...
It looks like my other friend will be giving up her staffie to us too, at the end of the month, as she's decided to take the advice of the courts and rent her home to avoid loosing it. She can't keep him with the friend she will be moving in with. My other DD and her BF are going to take Baby (:D) as they know him quite well and have dog sat him several times...they are made up

That would all be far to simple wouldnt it Fuddle and prepare!
It is very worrying, eased a little at least as have a couple more months of my Redundancy to use by which time it should be sorted hopefully. The timing of it all is just so unlucky, that OH would get made redundant a few weeks after me, at the same time as a crossover between JSA and MA you just couldnt make it up!Debt at LBM [strike]£17,544[/strike] £5700:TOver £14,000 PAID OFF :T
