fuddle Thanks for starting the new thread. Really useful to see the links to previous threads - didn't know there were so many :T
Hello to everyone and welcome to the newbies
I'll try to post when I can, but usually read a daily email of the thread on my way to work - so many good ideas its hard to keep up and by the time I finish reading its my stop so I don't post. (Must try harder:o )
Thanks for all the great ideas, and good luck dodging the weather for another week.

Oh I didn't know you can do this. How do you get a digest in your email?
Cooking a full bird in the slow cooker (chicken not bird) I've not done a whole one in there before but I'm impressed. I love the ease of the SC. Put it in, leave it and don't worry about times or burning.
I've yorkshires in the oven. I have a tin of 4 medium sized ones and normally put two eggs in. I'm trying a one egg mix. There was enough mix but I don't know if they'll rise. We'll see.0 -
This is in the local online newspaper. It seems my village was flooded in 2 areas (we have a stream running through it)...the roads I could normally use were inaccessible with landslides etc. The roads I could drive on were also mentioned in despatches. It was very bad.
>>The Service reminds people not to attempt to drive through floodwater  and to only make essential journeys in poor driving conditions.
• Six inches of fast flowing water can knock you over
• Two feet of water will float your car
• Flooding can cause manhole covers to come off, leaving hidden dangers
• Don’t walk or drive through flood water
• Don’t let children play in flood water
• Don’t walk on sea defences or riverbanks
• When water levels are high be aware that bridges may be dangerous to walk or drive over
• Culverts are dangerous when flooded
• Look out for other hazards such as fallen power lines and trees
• Wash your hands thoroughly if you touch floodwater as it may be contaminated.<<0 -

I have seen something similar that was emailed around work! The man hole one was scary - imagine walking along and the ground disappears!!
The houses a couple of streets away are flooded and there was raw sewerage floating about on Friday. They have been cleaning up / pumping out the water since Friday evening. There was more rain expect here today but up until now it has stayed dry. Good thing too as the ground is saturated!!0 -
What is a culvert?
A car wheel got stuck in a drain grid in the floods of last Thursday in my Mam's village.
Byatt next time, the cats will be ok hun, ok? Scary reading when you've been through it... literally
One egg yorkshire mix was absolutely fine. There's a few more pence per meal saved
Off to go find some Amazon subscribe and save basics for the store cupboard.0 -

Fuddle, honestly, if I'd realised how bad it was I don't think I'd have ventured out, although I must admit, leaving the puss cats was a worrying time for me, as I do care for them. But only 2 feet and a car can float! I have a phobia about water too.0 -
Hello all , just popped in to say hello to the new thread. As some of you know, I was in perpetual lurkdom since the very first "tough" thread and only came out very occasionally to post on the last couple of threads. I do read every single day though to keep up with everyone and am glad to see everyone is staying strong and coping well with everything life is throwing at them.
I see that you are all still as chatty as ever - it's taken me an hour today to catch up on yesterday/today's posts! :rotfl::rotfl:.
Once again I am reminded of the genuine care and support shared by everyone here and I get a lovely warm glow everytime I think about it. I love OS!
We are at last getting a break from the wet stuff here and I have managed to get some washing out but we are forecast more rain this afternoon, so I have my running shoes on ready to get out there if it starts!:)
Right, as I have nothing useful to contribute (as usual) I am sloping off back to lurkdom. Hope everyone stays dry.
Take care.

Oh I didn't know you can do this. How do you get a digest in your email?
When you subscribe to a thread the drop down menu gives you an option for emailed updates. You choose whether you want them daily, weekly etc and they are sent to your email address. I can see my emails on my phone so I keep up by reading on there each day. Email comes in the middle of the night with all the previous day's posts.
Hope that makes sense. If you can't get it to work let me know and I'll try to write it down step by step.

I understand
Thanks for explaining. I'll remember that when I go away (that should be if lol )

I'm swayed by Mcdougall's SR and plain flour 8 x 1.5kg for £7.20 (60p/kg) on subscribe and save but other than that nothing floats my boat.
Likewise, If anyone see's a good bargain/offer on washing powder in the big 4 supermarkets would you shout out? Maybe I should visit the grocery threads.0
