I'm a "needle looser" too. The technical name for this is Hands-off English Throw, it's a recognised style out of the approximately 100 different types if not more of knitting styles. It makes for a loose tension (I have to go down at least two needle sizes to get pattern tension) but it's easy enough to keep it even, with practice. It's one of the slowest styles of knitting which is why it's not popular but on the plus side, we're unlikely to ever get RSI or joint problems from clutching our needles in a death grip like some folk do. And it's a very good style for lace knitting when you don't want stitches to be tight.
I find that when people say "You're doing it wrong" it's just plain ignorance of the fact there's so many styles of knitting or indeed anything. And it's none of their business anyway. Gawd save us from the Knitting Police!I've just told Mum; there are other people knitting the same way and there's even a name for it! I only just managed to avoid adding Ner ner ner-ner ner!

They have food, water, candles, batteries are 2 streets away from an evacuation centre so are settling in to wait out the storm. They are booked to fly at 10 ish on Wednesday night but don't know if that will come off or not and they will try to e mail us every day they are there. Currently they still have mains water and electricity. Her parting words were have got a small mountain of Hershey Bars to bring home to the UK and in extremity could survive on them for a couple of weeks, so think I'm more scared than they are.
GQ _ Thank you for the info about Brooklyn being the go to place and not the run from place, did lots and then some for my peace of mind, you're a good friend, Cheers Lyn xxx.My pleasure, hun. I adore pootling around on maps, virtual or OS paper format.
_pale_ I ate a Hershey bar once, and have tried Hershey's Kisses (little bell-shaped foil chocolates). I ate several, thinking they couldn't possibly be as vile as that first one. I wuz wrong.
Managed to get in and out of the Post Office without too much aggro. It's a minor miracle. Sometimes people disappear into the bowels of that building and have to be retieved by specialist rescue officers. They come out quivering and dust-covered and say things like I only wanted a 2d stamp, is that nice Mr Wilson still Prime Minister?
PAH, lovely fireplace makeover and bliddy hell to the surveyors. Hit them with both publicity barrels. Down here we consider ourselves lucky if people don't keep rotting sofas and defunct appliances in their gardens. No one has founded a Flowerpot and Fruitbush Policy yet. All gardens look a bit carp at this time of year, you should see my allotment.
Nutty well done on the job interview.
Right, going to pootle around on the web and do some hurricane-watching. Have a good evening, all.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

:j for job offers
:jespecially for Fuddle. I've never minded coach journies too much, but I would do anything to avoid having to take my 2 girls on a long trip. (They do not do well being cooped up;). we spend as much time outside as we can so they can burn their energy off).
I'm absolutely shattered tonight, off for a hot bath and bed with a hwb very soon.
been working hard all day. I collected a pile of old decking this morning and spent the afternoon turning it into raised beds on the allotment. I really feel like I've made a dent in the work that needs doing over the last week or so. with lots of thanks to HOMERDOG for looking after my little angels while i got the graft done.
Off to country baskets tomorrow for christmas and craft supplies tomorrow. Then audiology with DD2, pretty sure she'll need her hearing aid replacing.
 added to post at special request of DD1 (who is not yet in bed, but should be;)) she loves the smilies.:rotfl::Tfreecycler and skip diver extraordinnaire:cool:0 -

Thanks for that Kidcat, I remember that uproar over the council wanting them to take everything down and destroy all the plants. I will wait to see what the housing officer who is supposed to get in touch within 5 days says and if they say it all has to go will start my battle.

Mrs Lw, I know you must be worried, so hugs for you. I'm on an American site (I have friends in NC), and so far people on the east coast are posting still, the weather is moving in, but at least they are ok. Will let you know if I hear anything. xxx0
