Quite simple really they broke it, they fix it. If not then they provide you with vehicle til it is fixed. Their problem not yours.

The window motor has been broken for ages, but to buy the parts new is way out is our league, crikey I had the boiler repaired for less!! So we just havent been using it, they have opened it, no idea why as its freezing here today, but at end of day its our problem. It didnt occur to tell them not to as I didnt think for a minute they would try and also its actually been stuck closed for weeks, electrician thinks they have had to mess with electrics to open the stupid thing - and that bit makes me cross but we cant prove it.

We are now waiting to strip the door down and move glass up manually - we need three men though as its so heavy and we are going against the car which thinks it should stay down. Then we are going to break a few clips (yet more expense) to get it right up and have to wedge it closed with wood (thankfully that I have loads of). Next week we have to source a replacement part - but will need to be scrap yards/eb@y so while door stripped I have to look closely at part and picture it so that I can buy the right one :D simple really, :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Thanks Mrs C, I expect you are right, as after my ramblings to the sweep, he seemed not to think it was an issue.

I have in expectation of being able to use it, picked up some free wood that someone was giving away outside their house, how long must I leave it as it's freshly cut, before using please?

It's bitterly cold here, almost icy, with rain and wind. Needed my coat for the first time this winter.

    Softstuff, hugs. xx

Kidcat, have you tried eurocarparts they were really cheap for the electric motor i had the pleasure of buying for my DD partner as it stopped working a nd he rang me crying. What could i do??? They dont do manufacture parts, but copies if that makes sense. We were advised not to use the carpart serch things, as they charge you to receive numbers to call, and half the time they are very expensive to call.

Hope everyone is all wrapped up warm, its soo nippy here today.

DD just gave me a lovely manicure with some nailvarnish in bright purple. Its suppose to last at least 2 weeks. We will see......

Tentatively asks does that mean you can light your fire? :D

Is that Avon nail varnish? I notice they have one that lasts for 14 days. I was going to get some to keep in touch with my wacky side at work when I have to blend in with the sensible folk ;)

Byatt, fresh cut wood needs a year to season.

Don't know if it's cold here, not ventured out from under my duvet on the sofa much. Have just lit some candles which always makes it feel cosier.

Our pallet man gave us another 12 pallets today and has another 8 for us next week. That's a lot of free burning/heat and I'm more than happy to get the circular saw to them.

Fuddle, I won't know for certain until the 15th, but I'm hopeful it will be yes.

Pooky, thanks, that's ok, I will store, didn't want to turn away from a gift horse! Are pallets for kindling, do they burn quickly. I might broach with neighbour who seems to get them.

Hi all, have just been catching up on all your news thanks for the updates. When I used to make porridge (can't eat it now) I used to leave it to soak all night then cook it in the microwave in a couple of minutes in the morning. It was lovely and smooth. My husband liked it with raisins, a little golden syrup and a spoonful of rum in the winter lol.

Have just got our weather forecast..six days of bad storms with up to 6 inches of rain on two of the days...I really hope that is a mistake with the numbers...its going to be fun shifting a ton of firewood and stacking it in the rain on Sunday. Apparently we are going to get gale force 8 winds as well as the rain tomorrow and strong thunder and lightning. If I go missing in action don't worry as our internet goes off in the storms , sometimes for days on end. We have lots of stocks in and are ready for anything that is thrown at us! I did hope to get to a retirement party tomorrow night though....ironically the last time we were at the same bar with the same group on we had lightning all night and they had to keep restarting the songs when the trip switch came into action.....they must be hexed!

Took the left over chicken wings with salad to the gym today for my lunch as I was helping out. Also discovered I had a nasty allergic reaction to some cashew nuts, I don't have a nut allergy so can only assume there is wheat in the pack somewhere so I am sending it back with a complaint letter.

The ham shank and split peas cooked beautifully in the SC....I have saved the stock and lentils for soup tomorrow and we had some of the meat with chips tonight, it was delicious . I will definitely be buying some more for the freezer in the future. I will cook it for a bit less time though as it literally fell to pieces off the bone.

Hope you are all staying warm and cosy , have seen the snow on the news! Have a lovely weekend folks xxx

It's snowing really hard here. The heating is due to knock off in a minute. Don't know whether to keep it on for a few more hours.

Byatt, you can split the pallets right down for kindling but they don't burn to badly if left chunky. I use coal too so it does the job of getting the coal going and gives off a lot of heat....and if it's free, I'll burn it!

Jealous of your snow Fuddle, I love snow. It's peeing down here and DD1 has just ventured out to a party dressed as a zombie bride, she'll probably scare half the village on the way.

 Have just been called rude by a cold caller because I politely interupted her to tell her I do not discuss my financial matters with cold callers

    Mrs VP
Re unwanted phone calls - remember you can at any time just disconnect the call, and you do not have to explain yourself to anyone. One time I just put the phone down and walked out of the room for a few minutes - the caller was gone when I returned. Another time I stuffed the phone inside a chest of drawers, and the caller ended up having a nice little chat with the contents of my knicker drawer.
:j Cold callers are the bane of my parents' existance, they get several calls a day. They're registered with Telephone Preference, as am I, but it doesn't seem to make any difference, they are inundated. What is about the nearly-70 homeowner age cohort that is soooo attractive.

;) I'd love a chance to leg-pull come cold-callers but they avoid me like the plague. If you want a guffaw and haven't seen it already, nip over to Hardup Hester's blog and read how she's been teasing the burgers.

((((((((((((Softstuff)))))))))))))))) Take care of yourself, hun, and come back to us when you feel up to it.

:j Possession, wonderful news about Mr P's new job, you must both be so thrilled.

I've been a bit MIA due to 2 days on the trot which can best be summed up as...............:wall::wall::wall::wall::wall:

After a lot of that at t'office I wasn't able to face a pooter screen on my own time and lay on the sofa reading stuff with zombies to relieve the brain ache.

Mar, is "rones" Scottish for gutters?

Gobsmacked that there's snow in the north east. Nowhere near cold enough for that around here.

    Pops, here's a trad rhyme;

Pease pudding hot, pease pudding cold
Peae pudding in the pot, nine days old.

Now there's a thought, eh? Except on OS it'd probably involve lentils and a day or two in the slowcooker.

OK, enough drivel for one post, I need tea so will have to until Nursie from the broomcupboard and get her to brew up.
