had a busy day, managed to get a lots of Ys veggies and fruit at Mr T so was very pleased and a lot of their baking supplies are buy2 get one free - flour, currants and the cake mixes so loaded up the trolley.

Tonight we laid a carpet rectangle in the living room. I have fake floorboard cushion floor with a big rug but the rug is worn out and a replacement was too expensive so we got a carpet off cut for £20 and laid it in the old fashioned way with a border of 'lino' It looks fab and is so cosy. Made it look like a new room, even O/S 'ers get bored after 8 years so am a happy ginny tonight. It only took 20 minutes with DS's help. Even if it only lasts a few years I can probably afford to replace it. Dgs can play with his cars now as the rug had a pattern carved in it so his toys wouldnt run properley.

Brilliant news Possession, just brilliant. :) It's long overdue and very well deserved because MrP has put so many hours into interview prep. Happy times :)

We've been catching up on GBBoff masterclass. I'm going to make donuts at the weekend but I have just been instructed to buy fondant fancies and tun0cks tea cakes - £2.60 added to my bill! I know my limits though - I can't attempt anything like those.

Smiley, did you have job preps to do lately? How is it going?

Thanks Fuddle. Fondant fancies aren't really that hard - their icing was all much too thin, that's why they had such a problem. Teacakes i've never made, but it certainly didn't look like it was worth all the effort!

DH put the children to bed 90 mins ago and hasn't come down so I'm presuming he has fallen asleep!

A belated happy birthday MrsChip and Smileyt - hope you both had a marvellous day!

Congrats, too, to Mr Possession - what a relief for you both and no more blinking interviews for a while! :T

I have tomorrow to work, and then not again until 2 weeks today - I am SO glad - like the job but need a break from rushing out the house every morning, and the littlies are shattered as well. We're going to bake, potter in the garden if it's fine and be stay at home people for a week, very OS! :rotfl:

Today looks like it's ended on a good note for more people - lots of smilies and positive vibes out there! :)

    A xo

Re unwanted phone calls - remember you can at any time just disconnect the call, and you do not have to explain yourself to anyone. One time I just put the phone down and walked out of the room for a few minutes - the caller was gone when I returned. Another time I stuffed the phone inside a chest of drawers, and the caller ended up having a nice little chat with the contents of my knicker drawer.

Does anyone remember the Nambarrie advert on how to get rid of pest cold callers?

Have just booked a place for Lisakay and myself on a "festive craft extravaganze" with a local company who recycle and revamp and make all sorts of things using what u might otherwise throw away...should be fun and interesting. It will also give me ideas for what to do with the grandchildren next time they're on holiday.
Ooooh! That sounds fun! Let us know how it turns out please!

    Re: unwanted calls -
We recently bought a new phone from 'Amaz0n' which has caller display, so we can see who is calling us before we answer. We had to sign up (online) to BT Caller display, but it didn't cost anything extra because we still pay for our land line with BT. I know it's not very OS but it was worth the £30 or so for the satisfaction of not answering the 'International' calls, and being able to bar certain phone numbers

Ginny - its surprising how something so small can make such a huge difference, I am basking in having a reasonable house, it seems that my mum being here has encouraged everyone to keep the house looking ok, added to our being out today (knowing mum would be arriving whilst we were out so we tidied up before we left) and its stayed ok.

OH and I have just ventured back from the local pub where we we had dinner, it was ok but the real treat was having the break away and as DD was sitting for us we were fairly sure all would be well when we got home as she is much better at spotting DS8 tricks before they get out of hand than my parents.

Tomorrow is big day for us as its big cars MOT, his first since we bought him, OH thinks he will fail but cannot say what he thinks on. I find MOT day very stressful and get all out of proportion with it. Always have done, no idea why. :)

OH had a call earlier to say that the evening crew have all been recalled to work, so am hopeful things have picked up there, it has really kicked me though and am desperately trying to sort out mortgage protection, we couldnt do it when we moved but should now be able to get it so its something I have got to get on with now.

    Hi all
I'm back in Australia now. Was a nightmare of a month all round, probably the worst month of my life (and it's not like I haven't had some shockers previously).
Will probably have to go back to England at some point for Dads inquest (yes, first there was the post mortem, then they decided on an inquest, and it took nearly 2 weeks to have him released).

So, I'm around but not feeling particularly myself. I'll likely lurk awhile if that's ok.

    xx
