poor moggy

I may enter into a rant so please bear with me.

My cat went missing last week. I phoned the vet on a whim, not expecting to find out anything, but more out of sheer desperation. Unfortunately the vet had her. Someone had knocked her over and killed her.

I am so angry. The person who ran her over didn't stop. Fortunately one of the neighbours who had seen the whole thing went out to help her although there was really was nothing she could do. For that Im eternally grateful. The vet wouldn't give me her details, understandably, but I've asked them to thank her.

I've had the misfortune of knocking a cat over and under no circumstance would i have left that cat lying in the road.

Has anyone had the same thing happen to them?

  • So sorry about your cat :(

Our cat was run over 10 years ago and nobody contacted me..his body was at the road side a few hours after it happened :( we collected him and brought him home.

It's nice somebody took your cat to the vets, I hope you can take some comfort in that xx

Yeah, Im so grateful she took the time to do it. If it wasn't for her seeing the accident and going out her way to help, i may have never have known what happened to her

Sorry to hear about your cat - as above, at least someone cared enought to take her to the vets and at least you know what happened and do not look for her :(

    RIP little one...

So sorry to hear about your loss :( RIP to her.

I'm with you, I could never hit any animal and just leave them at the roadside knowingly. For that I actually carry a box around in the boot of my car, so if that ever does happen, I have something to take them to the vet in.

I don't know if you know, but there is currently a petition to make it a legal requirement to report an RTC involving a cat. I can't post the link unfortunately as I'm a newbie, but Google "Make it a legal requirement to report a road accident involving a cat" and it's the first link under epetitions.direct.gov.

If this can get enough signatures we can get this changed and hopefully save a few furry lives.

That's a great idea. I knew that any accidents involving dogs needed to be reported but cats seem to get a bit of a bum deal.

I'm sorry about your cat. I agree with others, I could never run over an animal and not stop - especially one that could be someone's pet.

Awww, I'm so sorry. Your poor little cat; you must be so devastated. As daft as it sounds though, I'm pleased you know what happened to her, and you can grieve. Next week it will be three months since my Moggly-Moo went missing and I'm still calling him in most nights and expecting to see him trotting homeward bound for treats.

    *huggles* for you.
Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt. So it goes.

Thank you. That sounds like me. Every night and every morning id try and call her in. Im glad i know where she is now. It must be heart breaking not to know where he is. I hope that he turns up safe and well.
