You complain to whoever sold you the insurance.
You'll need valid complaint reasons, though.0 -

Here's what was said to you in Marchktlou28_08/03/12 wrote: »Hi I took out in 1999 a barclaycard and was led to believe by an advisor in a branch of barclays that i had to take the card protection plan to enhance my chances of getting the application agreed , i was only 19 at the time and to be honest was none the wiser. As it happens I have been paying it ever since but have only recently found out through this amazing webite that its optional and it appears I was missold the product. Plus the Cpp covers you for fraud , stolen identity and loss of important documents and cards etc but I have all this cover on my bank account anyway and have done since 1998 so it was never a suitable product for me to have! What are my chances in getting the premiums paid back?meer5308/03/12 wrote: »I'd say your chances of a refund are nil. CPP - Continue their UNAUTHORISED practice of charging your BarclayCard.
Even after following their procedure of canceling the "auto renewal" on the policy online.
NO NOTICE, of any any kind - either digitally or by paper.
I had to spend an hour on the phone, finally a 3 way call with myself, VISA and CPP to resolve. Had to this a year ago also.
How are they allowed to keep my credit card information on file - after 12 months - and just charge? -Isn't this illegal?
thanks0 -
To all those who say chances of a refund are nil: Wise Up - almost all recently designed financial services products for the mass market are rip-offs, so why should a refund claim fail?
I believe (and I am well-equipped to rationalise my beliefs!) that paying for so-called "Identity Theft insurance" is:
(a) A pretty useless pursuit
(b) Majority paid away as commissions / fees to middlemen leaving about eleven quid a year that actually reaches the Ultimate Risk Carrier (or underwriter/insurer if you like) from which supposedly claims are paid, URC expenses are paid and a fair profit taken. Now would someone care to remind us how much a year is actually charged to the customer for this product?
I have yet to find a seller of this insurance that can correctly tell me how the "product" works (or more to the point, how it doesn't).
You might write to Anthony Jenkins at the top of the tower at Barclays - I bet he can't justify it either despite running Barclaycard before getting the UK retail top spot after that American woman got sidelined, and then getting fast forwarded into the top top Group CEO seat vacated by that other American diamond geezer whose name is best forgotten.
I've no doubt that with a Oxford Masters in PPE that Anthony could certainly put a spin on it though. With his credit card company leadership antics he was surely always a Master in PPI and whilst this CPP add-on malarkey is unquestionably from the dark side, it is small-fry compared to those earlier Darth Vader-ish episodes:p0 -
The OP was last active on the forum in August, so I doubt we'll ever know whether his complaint was upheld.peterbaker wrote: »To all those who say chances of a refund are nil: Wise Up - almost all recently designed financial services products for the mass market are rip-offs, so why should a refund claim fail?
It's also pertinent to note that it's irrelevant whether financial services products are a "rip off" as that's not a valid mis-selling complaint.0 -
CPP insurance was widely mis-sold both by banks and themselves.

But complainants still need valid and verifiable complaint reasons; that's the point. No one can complain simply that it was a "rip-off".Alpine_Star wrote: »CPP insurance was widely mis-sold both by banks and themselves.0 -

I wasn't addressing your point.0 -
Sorry cannot help with your query regarding CPP but have a similar problem where I have been sold CPP cover and have the car key fobs (2) with serial numbers to prove it.
My question is on such flimsy evidence, the paperwork has long been shredded, can I still make a claim?
I believe this was sold to me when I purchased a car in 2006 is there any hope of compensation?0
