Door rope of stove

Hi
Been advised by chimney sweep to replace door rope - it helps make the seal tight so that the flows work properly
What do you think - can I replace myself? How would I go about it?
(Simple test to see if needs replacing: if door can be jiggled substantially then it does)

Very easy to do and surprised sweep didnt offer to do it, I often do them as part of sweeping / maintenance, ropes and bricks are common things for me to do.
Any how back to the rope, many of the decent manufacturers sell the seals as complete kits, rope and adhesive.
If you can take the door off and lie it flat on a padded surface.
The rope should come away if carefully prized away with a screwdriver.
Once the rope is off scrape away as much of the old adhesive as you can to give the new adhesive a good surface to bond to.
Cut the new rope to size before applying the adhesive.
Apply the adhesive all the way around the door in the seal recess.
Starting at the bottom push the rope into the recess until all the rope is in place.
Refit the door.
Shut the door, this will be very stiff now because of the new rope...perfectly normal, you might have to adjust the door catch but I have never needed to.
Leave door closed for a few days to allow the adhesive to set, or light a small fire in the stove which will cure the adhesive a bit quicker.
Sit back and have a cuppa
