Hi I wonder if anyone can answer this problem for me? My wife has a Nokia C1-01 which when powered off the text message inbox deletes all the messages, the sent message folder is still intact and if we change the view from inbox to conversation mode both the outgoing message and reply show. She is on virgin pay as you go. I also have a Nokia C1-01 on O2 pay as you go which doesn't have this problem. We have tried changing several settings to no avail is there something wrong with the phone?

I had this fault on my work phone for ages. It should be a easy fix! The software needs updating - key *#0000# on both phones and you will prob find the 02 phone software is v5.40 and the virgin is v4.20.

Any Nokia service centre should be able to do this FREE; or down load directly from the Nokia website with the help of a USB cable.

Dont forget to back up any files before you download new software.
  • had same prob...............you need to reset to factory settings.
    1.menu
    2.settings
    3.restore factory settings
    4.restore all
    5.continue
    6.secure code is 12345
    7.ok

then send yourself a text message and then turn off phone and see if it has saved it.

Thanks for this. In order to save my address book before restoring I transferred all details to my SIM card:
    1. Menu
    2. Contacts
    3. More
    4. Copy contacts
    5. From phone to SIM
This way at least I had my contacts saved during restoring as all my texts were lost. There may be a way of storing texts, but I didn't need to look into that and perhaps someone can add that to this post.
  • Hi,

I've tried what has been suggested in this thread and my wifes c1-02 is still deleting the inbox messages when the phone is switched off.... any other suggestions?

    Thanks
