A Mac for business is a good idea if you're already a Mac user. It's not a good idea to buy a Mac to use for business when you don't have a clue how to do anything on it.

Thanks. He went to ne of the Apple Stores sessions yesterday on the basics. And he's used to my iPad. I did wonder as its mostly spread sheets and things like that, would Office for Mac not be ok and compatible with other peoples work?

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
It is compatible, but the layout of Office for Mac is different to the layout of Office for Windows so to an extent he would need to learn how to use the product from scratch.

I refer you back to my comment in post #9

However, if he's intent on getting the Mac and learning how to use a different office suite, you may wish to consider Libre Office which is compatible with Microsoft Office files, and best of all, it's FREE

BTW, I'm not trying to put you/him off buying a Mac - I'm actually an avid Mac user myself.
How do I add a signature?

Mac is fine for 'creative' business, in fact it's the norm in graphics design, pre-press and fashion. Accounting and project-planning, nope.

Plus, if OH turns up with a Mac, clients will assume he's been charging too much!
