If this chap needs Excel, he will probably want a LARGE/WIDE screen. There aren't many laptops which do 1920x1080...

Surely that depends on the complexity of the sheets, number of columns on view etc., and presumably he's coped pretty well for the past several years on his existing laptop.

Maybe - but there's coping and coping. Just a point to consider for a new purchase? My experience of financial bods is that they would prefer a 42" screen!

My experience with accountants suggests most would manage with a 14 or 15" CRT monitor if it means not spending money!

It's got very slow, and now won't boot every time. It's been looked after by the company over the years so gets serviced etc and the guy said its just getting on a bit lol! Outlook Express wont connect at all now. We were trying to remember when he got it, we reckon about seven years so pretty good when it's had almost daily use for business.
Too many children, too little time!!!

Not sure what to do for now to be honest. I keep getting told a Mac for business isn't a good idea anyway.

A Mac for business is a good idea if you're already a Mac user. It's not a good idea to buy a Mac to use for business when you don't have a clue how to do anything on it.
