Where can I buy a Samsung/Google Nexus?

I am after a Google nexus phone.
It is also know as the Samsung nexus or the nexus prime. But it seems that in the 9 months since its launch most UK phone shops have stopped selling this device, and the ones that do, sell it at exorbitant prices, I think the cheapest is £450 sim free or £36 per month on a 24 month contract (online).
The google play store does not sell the phone in the UK
The US version did a recent price drop to $349 (roughly equal to £230) on the sim free version. Amazon and play.com sell the phone for about £350 sim free.
I was considering getting someone in the US to buy it and send it to me via DHL. But im not sure if it will work in the UK.
Can anyone tell me where I can buy this phone and what the cheapest sim free prices are?

Try Amazon.co.uk0

The prices on amazon.co.uk have dropped since yesterday, where they were about £350 down to about £320 - this is still £100 more expensive than the US version. Would it make sense to get someone in the US to buy it and ship it to me here in the UK?
I get to save the £100 (minus international delivery), and I believe the phone is quad-band so will work in the UK.0 -
remember you have to add VAT to any conversion so $350 is £225, add the VAT and it becomes £270, so that's the price you have to use for comparison.
also because of some legal case the nexus is banned from sale in the US for the moment might be a couple of weeks before it can be sold again.
as for if it will work then as long as you get the GSM version then it will no problem.0 -
There is only 1 GSM model and it's pentaband so fine in the UK (and anywhere else in the world).splitinfinity wrote: »I was considering getting someone in the US to buy it and send it to me via DHL. But im not sure if it will work in the UK.0 -
If a relative in the US paid for the phone (when its back on sale, I believe they are doing a firmware upgrade to get around the stupid apple ban), and then posted it to me via international delivery, then the cost will be
= $349 + Postage
The phone supports GSM and is pentaband, so I cannot see why it wouldnt work in the UK. So I might just wait a few weeks and get it from the US.0 -
Have you checked whether the handset - as purchased in USA - has an international warranty?
How much will you actually saving by doing it the way you are intending when you take into consideration US sales tax, shipping and import fees (including handling charges)?
FYI these are currently on eBay for £310.0 -
I guess your right. I just wanted to avoid getting it off a private sale, as there would be no warranty as opposed to a company sale, whereby I would be offered 12 month hardware warranty. I guess the cheapest option with warranty is to get it off amazon for about 320 GBP.
Thank you all.0
