Claim insurance from scottish provident

Having read quite a few posts on here and hearing tales from work colleagues about their claims i was after some advice.
I had a policy from a broker from scottish provident from June 2005- June 2011. This was Life assurance ,critical illness, unemployment benefit and maybe some other things that i cannot remember.
I paid approx £83 per month for this.
If i am off my work i am on full pay for 12 months which would be exactly the same as the unemployment benefit on my policy even though it took 6 months to kick in.
So my question is do i have a valid claim against this policy and is it worth doing it?
Also how do i go about it as i don't have the details anymore?
Thanks
Ross

Well you have to have a reason for any reclaim to start with.
If you had all this back up finance, why did you take the insurance out anyway.
I know its not helpful, but it sounds as if you want to do it because everybody else is doing it, and not because you think its been miss sold.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Best you find out as what you describe in your post (6 months deferment for example) doesnt fit with unemployment cover. So my question is do i have a valid claim against this policy and is it worth doing it?
claim or complaint? If you are off work ill and there is illness protection then you can make a claim.
If it is complaint, then what are your reasons for complaint?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Scottish Provident provides long term insurance whereas PPI is short term, so it looks like you may have got the wrong end of the stick.0

Hi
I claimed back in March from LLoyds/TSB for CC reclaim on the fact that it just appeared and I didnt know about it. According to LLoyds they sent a letter on April 18th which I didnt received and didnt find out until last Friday that I had been refused. This has put me out of the 28 day period for me to challenge the decision and they totally refused to look at it again.
My husband did exactly the same thing and was granted a payout but didnt receive his offer letter, just a cheque, which we accepted. We received all other letters and bills from the bank but suspiciously did not get them from the PPI department where money was concerned.
As I was unemployed at the time of taking out the card, the insurance would not have covered me and I told the woman from Lloyds on the phone this after the initial call after receiving my claim but it wasnt detailed on the letter outling the claim, which did arrive. I hadnt noticed this and was turned down only on the signing up of the credit card including the PPI.
As I said it was acknowleged in the initial phonecall that I was unemployed as the woman read out to me that I had written homemaker as my employment, they were aware of my status at that time.
All I was told was to contact the Ombudsman, which I had already done last week and the utterly refused to do anything else.
I cottoned on to the fact that as they had failed to note that I was unemployed at the time, the insurance wouldnt have paid me out anyway and had to be missold. I asked them if I could make another claim on this fact and was told Yes, so I have made a second claim.
My husband was working so I did have money coming in and who in their right mind would want to pay for something which was not ever going to pay out for them.
LLoyds were patronizing, unmoved, robotic in their replies, so I asked if the call was being recorded and asked for it to be sent to their compliance manager to record, the lost letters, missold PPI, failing to log my work status to ask if they thought their department was keeping to the correct guidelines.
I spent 40 minutes on the phone where LLoyds totally refused to look again at my case even though it said they would on the letter of refusal, which I requested when told on the phone when enquiring when my claim would be settled, when this letter was received it was dated 3rd July, not 18th April.
So I have a claim going through the Ombudsman and a second claim going through. Dont they try to screw you, the pigs.0 -
