Cyclist hit by lorry

TBH in that situation. i would have been inclined to hold back and see how the truck was going to move off.
Its unclear as to how far in front he got from the truck and whether he got far enough ahead to come out of the forward blind spot.
however, the road has a cycle lane and the driver shoud have been aware of the possibility of a cyclist being in that zone.0 -
Another (pretty pointless) head cam video from a similar cyclist.

Over two minutes, several junctions, overtaking the lorry in front, and the view never wavers. Head down, (apart from to shout abuse at a driver in traffic he tries to squeeze past who was stopped before he got there), never looking anywhere but the spot in front.0 -
technically it's not the cyclists issue that the truck might have had a blind spot
That's a bit like saying that if I'm driving along and I see a car driven by someone who appears to be drunk heading towards me, it's not my issue that they may well hit me.
I think the fact that a multi-ton lorry might have a blind spot, and the fact that a cyclist in that area could well end up in the local hospital or morgue should make the issue far more than a technicality to the cyclist.
Situational awareness should be a must for anyone venturing onto the roads, especially if it's almost certain that you are the one who will come off worst in any accident.0 -
As a LGV driver and cyclist in my opinion it's the Lorry drivers fault. The cyclist certainly does some things I wouldn't have especially going up the inside of the lorry if I really felt the need to over take I would have gone around the outside the cycle lane was very narrow.
As for the actual collision the lorry driver should have seen him even if the cyclist hadn't completed the undertake the lorry did have a blind spot mirror and should have been able to see him if he had looked.0 -
For me (cyclist and car driver) it's too hard to tell if the cyclist completed the undertake. If he did then it's the lorries fault, otherwise the cyclist was completely in the wrong. Cycling safety 101 don't pass lorries on the left.
Of course with Dutch style segregated cycling lanes and so forth, this accident could never happen as these conflicts are designed out of the system. With so-called vehicular cycling accidents such as this will happen.

Then again, it could have been this idiot.

Or even these stupid twits.

You gotta love the translation at the end:

No it couldn't, please don't dump random rubbish in this thread.
Thanks.0 -
So, when it comes to showing the idiocy of some cyclists, it is irrelevant? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
