You really should let your OH read them. I'm male (as I'm sure you all know) and have read them. As I said in my review on the 50-shades thread (can't find it now) I got much more from the books than the saucy bits. I almost ended up skipping those bits in book 3.

What I did get was the "remember you love your wife more than anything so tell her!" message that is underlying in all three books. I nearly cried reading it at some parts!:o

The books may be badly written, in terms of linguistic genius, but they send a good message if you take it for what it is. I'm not painting the BR red and strapping her up, but I did bring some flowers home the other night and the first thing I do now when I get home is give her a kiss. Used to be "start tidying up, mess with dogs, clean something, make tea, go on PC - oh, you're home" LOL.

Keep the fire lit, ladies! :A:rotfl::D

Hi QoC ... I'm just trying to do a bit of a catch up (one or two pages from the current page backwards just can't try to it properly) ... thanks for asking after me.

Yes .. I'm really struggling to keep up with this thread cos it's so fast moving (a good thing I'm not slating it) ... and life has been a bit hetic of late ... more so than usual recently.

For those that don't know (don't want to bore peps) I'm a FT carer for mum with Alzheimers and a single mum to toddler twins. I technically 'work' for myself but haven't had any clients for about a year now and so apart from carer's allowance and child benefit I live off glitches and coupons. I too have become the 'bargain bore' and people in real glaze over.

Anyway to top this there's been a recent death in the family (my cousin who was the carer for my aunt ... mum's sister with vascular dementia). His actions before he died has left a really messy situation and my aunt is now in care home and is no longer the owner of her own home!!!! As a result his sister and I are appying through a solicitor to the Courts of Protection for joint Deputyship (anyone who has experience of this I would welcome any advice/tips).

I've also spent the week ... moving my recently incontinent mother (still not getting any products to help with this) out of kingsized bed in the back bedroom into a single bed in the box room. (TIP: to move a soggy KS bed downstairs and onto the drive you cut it in half :rotfl:with scissors and a wire cutters).

Anyway, these are my reasons for lurking and not commenting as much as I used to ... but contributing when I have something of interest (unfortunately not often enough).

Right better get back to whittling through my store of Lenor and Persil small and mighty ... 3 machine loads a day can eat into a girls stash quickly. TG I have some little car coupons and a few conditional spends to use :T

dcon blue i would just like to add my thanks to you for finding this glitch. Im really sorry to hear you are having it so hard with your mum and everyone else to look after.
My job in the real world is as a professional carer - (i luckily get paid for what you do for love) and imho you need to seek out an "Everlasting power of attorney", anything else that you may put in place can be overturned by courts etc; this one can't be overturned without your permission - it is a long drawn out process but well worth it in the end, sadly its not something you will be able to do on your own you will need a solicitor.

As far as continence products for your mum you need to get hold of the district nurse or continence nurse (depending on your surgery) and get a continence assessment carried out and whilst you are talking to her also request in the least a mattress but if i were you i would go for the whole bed - state to them that you are struggling with a bad back and need a bed that raises and lowers and also stress the amount of time your mum spends in her bed so you would like an airflow mattress and for the bed to come with cot sides to prevent your mum from falling out as she has been so use to sleeping in a kingsize bed and moves around quite a bit when sleeping.

I would also contact care direct and ask them to assess your mum for the direct payment scheme this way you will be able to employ someone to be with your mum a few days/hours a week thus giving you a bit of you time which i am sure you need. For this i know its not affected by her owning her own home but is by the amount of money she has in her bank - i think its got to be in the thousands though before you are penalised. Another thing to look out for would be a "memory cafe" in your area they are usually run by social workers who work with the adult team and even if you didn't attend the meeting it will give you a point of contact so you have someone you could turn to for advice. I hope this goes someway to help you if you need to know or want any advice I'm here to help but sadly I'm not up to date with everything but will help where i can.

My JF didn't compare either ( 2 shampoo and 1 conditioner) so I'm going to return them.
Will this be a problem when I try to use the APG?
I couldn't resist 1 more OJ and a pack of strawberries and I don't want to lose the £1.79 this generated.
