Tesco and their "managers discretion" excuse really hacks me off

    Me too!

I have only ever really been caught out once on this when buying 15 of one item for DTD back. They flat refused as dill all the CEO office and customer service. I've paid them back in multiples since but I do avoid that store (it was the furthest in my circle anyway).

    Morning everyone :hello:

I think the adding of a clubcard number to the price checks, is more to stop people trying to re-use the vouchers. Because if they do then the person can supposedly be traced back through their clubcard.

This has been posted on the JTD thread, if anyone can help out I would be interested to know the answer to this
If someone can get me a barcode from one of the new vouchers that has been used with a clubcard and their clubcard number I will get OH to check it to see if any clubcard info is encrypted into the barcode.

I don't think it's the end of JTD by a long shot. There will still be coupons that Tesco do that will bring the price of items down (when compared with the other big 3) to a level that is "glitchy". There will be things like the pizza deal, the meal deals, the chickens comparing wrong and other such stuff. We will just have to work harder to find them.

If it does end, I will go back to DTD hunting in store to find prices wrong as I don't currently do this as it would raise my profile.

I shall be voucher creating for the next three weeks in order to find all the meat glitches that get the weights comparison wrong.

Oh I agree, Fudge. The thing is, this will not stop people using them more than once due to fear of tracing but will stop them if the bar codes are unique and the till spots it. I've not had it confirmed but I really do thing that Mr T simply bins these vouchers in the cash office, not keeps a running tally in order to trace someone.

Wombelling will work as you will just input the clubcard number that's on the receipt and change the last number form 0-9 (use the back and forward buttons in IE9).

Think of the clubcard vouchers. How many people have used their mum's 25p off bread coupon, or a wombled one even - I know I have.

It will be interesting to see how this pans out.

so you mean input it 10 times? Otherwise how would you know which was the correct digit?

I agree. Although restrictive in some areas, it does widen the scope hugely when using the points coupons/CS vouchers/mocs from the mailings and also manufacturers mocs - have sometimes struggled to get vfm from these and the comparisons with S and M will help there. I have a lot of these to use up - they are often redundant as I don't use my cc too often - need to get creative :D

Scary territory though in terms of data retention and profiling - this is what T does best and CC data is one of their greatest assets, marketing and otherwise. Think this is part of their drive to take it to the next level .....
