Reminding HSBC of this fact might be helpful in getting them to reconsider.0 -

yes i think you have mixed me up with philld lol. i have read up on his case and i believe my case is a lot different. Yes my partner should have shielded her pin better but these people are good at what they do.
If they hadnt have sneakily taken her bag and just violently knocked her on the head to steal her bag im pretty sure hsbc and the police would have been more helpful.
My reason for starting this thread was to see how i can get hsbc to see sense, the thing that annoys me the most is when they put the money in for us they said they would make an investigation of there own and if they found evidence that it wasnt how we said it was then they would withdraw. Im sorry but how does that qualify as an investigation? they say no one would follow her for an hour......well they did and there is no going about it, this is why my title of this thread is 'hsbc using dirty tricks'.
they are just clutching at straws to keep there money, they are happy to take it from you but not so happy to give. They knew by taking this back from us that we would be massively in the red getting charges left right and center. Iv had to wipe my 3 year olds bank account which was for when he turned 18 just to stay afloat so i want that money back to put back in for him. I feel really let down by hsbc over all of this, what they did to us is almost as bad as what the thieves did.
The only reason they wouldnt pay is because they dont believe someone would follow her so if they did believe she had been followed then they would have paid us, so i ask you do you think that is fair?
Oops, sorry

Seems to have left the handbag unattended on a pram.
Sounds a little careless.0 -

Getting a bit sick of people passing judgment on this, she was in clarks where she has been dozens of times and has always felt safe, my partner was putting our babys first pair of shoes on him and taking a picture of him. I think it is very understandable that she took her eyes off it!0 -

Do Clarks have CCTV ? What about other CCTV cameras at White Rose ? Worth asking i suppose.
The trouble is that although you may feel that it was understandable that your wife took her eyes off her bag, HSBC won't see it that way. They won't know how long she spent taking the photo or where the bag was whilst this was happening. I know that shop well and the kids shoe bit is very small, if it's busy you can't always get a pram near where the shoe fitting bit is. I'm not backing HSBC here, it's just that i can see where they are coming from, if your wife had £350 cash in her bag, would she have taken her eyes off it ?
I think all you can do is to make a complaint and see what happens. If you're not happy, then go to the FOS.0 -

This is whats annoying me the most with the bank. They arnt bothered she took her eye off her bag, they say that because the thieves drew money 1hr 15 minutes after her last withdraw, the time gap between both transactions is too long and they dont believe she was followed and she must have had the pin wrote down. This is what i mean by dirty tricks. They would have paid us if they took the money 15 minutes after our withdrawal. The bank is out of order they have no facts to base it on0
