Help with confusing benefits, my JSA was rejected because partner is on incapacity

Elaine12022 gives a great example of the problem I am having. Everyone seems to be giving me a different answer as to what I need to do to sort this out. No-one in the call centres seems to know and I'm being passed around from person to person.
My partner and I are going into the council buildings on Monday morning to try and sort this out once and for all.
Fortunately I think I have secured myself a job but I am not giving up on this as I am owed money for the time I'm out of work!0 -

You asking me Mikey? I wasn't turned down for IS, my OH was. We applied for that as we were given the impression that my OH wouldn't get JSA. He was turned down for that, they said I would have to apply but after that he was awarded income based JSA instead! No way would I want to apply for IS as I'm sure this would bump me up the list for 'transfer' to ESA..
Tombooth, how are you getting on?

Well I went to the council building as advised on here to be told that they only deal with housing benefit and council tax benefit and I had to go back to the job centre. As I was already in town I went along and spoke to someone who actually seemed to know what he was talking about! I have now sent off a form to add myself into my partners IB (and forms for HB and CTB), still waiting to hear anything back.
Fortunately I now have a job! Starting a week on Monday!0
