in Water bills
Good afternoon,
After receiving a water bill of over £400 in April I applied for a water meter, unfortunately they were unable to fit one but they were able to move me onto an assessed tariff which has brought my bill down to £252.
This is brilliant but it does mean that for the last ten years I have been paying way too much for my water - ( I live in a mid terrace house).
Can I apply for a rebate for previous years? Has anyone done this and been successful and can offer advise on how to word my letter?
My supplier is Yorkshire Water.
Thank you

There is no rebate available as you were paying the correct charge and could have applied for a meter at any point within those years..fault is yours I am afraid.There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin, and roam the world at will.

A semantic point perhaps but you have not been paying too much for your water - you have paid the correct amount for charges based on your Rateable value.
You could have applied for a meter 10 years ago and got a cheaper tariff.
If you were, say, paying a high premium for car insurance and then discovered you could have obtained it much cheaper, would you expect a rebate for previous years?0 -
