Need Help With Stupid Buyer

I sold a pair of glasses on eBay, I sent them the following day, 10 days later I received a stroppy email from the buyer simply saying 'Where's my glasses I paid for them 10 days ago?????'

I sent them a polite response immediately to theri registered email address explaining that they must have been lost in the post and I was happy to offer a replacement or a refund whichever suited them, that was on Thursday, having received no response to my offer, I followed it up this afternoon with a reminder, still no response, I have now received an email from PayPal saying they have filed a dispute against me for an item not received.

I can see no logic to the buyers behaviour it isn't as if I was being awkward, now I want to refund them and get them off my back, I have never had to deal with a dispute before, can they leave me bad feedback and if so is there anyway I can avoid this?

  • Agree to refund them promptly.

They can leave negative feedback. However, if they do, reply to it with a factual comment e.g. Offered refund/replacement. No response to emails.

Woohoo! I'm normal! Gotta go tell the cat.
  • i assume they wernt to be signed for then?

unless it was recorded delivery you have to refund and then claim back using your proof of postage from RM. the buyer should have replied to your emails they are simply rude. your feedback can reflect this but beware they will give you bad feedback back!

The item was sent by recorded delivery.

  • Have you entered the reference number onto the Royal Mail website to check whether it has been signed-for?

The item hasn't been signed for.

  • So it's likely that it could be at their sorting office.

Registered items are returned to the sender after 7 days, it has now been 12 days since it was posted.

theres a chance they don't use their registered email address so never received your mails and thought you were ignoring you. Why didn't you just reply to the mail you received?
  • So it might well be on its way back to you. I would agree to refund. Wait to see if the item arrives back with you. If it doesn't show (not sure how long it takes to be returned) then put in a claim with the Royal Mail.

Maybe he can't read your emails because he needs the glasses that haven't arrived to read with. :D
