Reality check....I am back to square one....

I first started my debt free diary in February 2011, my debt at that stage was £10,028 . I entiteled my diary "Fresh start for 2011", however we are now half way through 2012 and still no fresh start:o

I am starting a new diary because i have new debts, i lost my way with the previous diary & also the title is not appropriate.

Previously, my biggest debt was to my aunty who loaned me £8,500 interest free to clear my outstanding debts. I have been repaying her but have accumulated debt again on credit cards

I find this site a help & inspiration but now need to keep on track with it and clear this horrid black cloud of debt which looms over me.

I will try to post most days so that i can focus on where i go so wrong with money.

Debts in Feb 2011- £10,028 Debts in July 2012- £8,813

It is non stop rain here again, i need to walk the dog but really cannot face being soaked .

Well done for brushing yourself off and going for it again....

It is hard to keep focused, I am struggling with that. I tend to pay everything the minute I get paid so I have no temptation to spend where I shouldn't :)

    2nd time lucky? ;)

You do right to come back on here again for more support and advice.

Put up your SOA and let us have a look at it for you, see where you can maybe change a few things.

    Good luck! :D

I like that "2nd time lucky " I hope so, i have had lots of gloomy days over money and far too much burying my head in the sand. I am fed up of constantly robbing Peter to pay Paul, having to juggle my money.

I am not at a stage yet that i can set myself a Debt Free Date, but i need to consider this, having a goal to aim for will motivate me.

Sometimes it takes a set-back to really push you forward. I too started addressing my debt last year but again like you managed to rack up more debt! All I can say is, I KNOW I am truly commited now. One bit of advice I have heard time and time again is keep posting and keep reading here on MSE. It serves me as a constant reminder and motivates me to push on. I have just re-started my diary as well so I hope that helps me stay on track.

Do you have a debt busting 'plan' as such yet? Have you done any spreadsheets/budgets of incomings/outgoings etc? I find these really help. It should also help you come up with a realistic debt free date if you know how much you can overpay by each month.

Wishing you all the best

You have your goal, so go for it! You don't get to the top of a mountain in one fell swoop. One step at a time. Even small steps. You will get there :D

I got into debt the year after I left school. Now, 12 years later, I’m debt free :j I learned the hard way and I learned a lot of lessons. But they are lessons I will never forget.

Post your SOA and start a spending diary. Budget yourself £x per week and stick to it.

    Hi MC

Welcome back....I have definitely found the disciplineof posting regularly makes a big difference to my spend patterns...have been away recently and attention to all things MSE has dipped. No doubt about it.

As u can also see from my sig..I got debt free and then ran up new debt when I moved jobs and went PT.

Anyway we are all here for you..keep posting!!! :-)
