L&G MPPI !!!! up

Options
I wrote to L&G to ask if we were entitled to claim for missold MPPI back in late April and last week received a letter basically saying no and detailing why. Ok fine, just thought we would check. I have been going thru my banking and the last MPPI payment was taken 5th April, so we are NO LONGER COVERED!! They have cancelled the insurance and not told us. All out letter asked was to check if we were entitled to money back and it looks like they have cancelled it. Can they do it. We obviuosly need the cover and it wasnt missold as per their letter which doesnt mention cancellation.

My husband is going to call them tomorrow but i feel a strongly worded letter to them coming on. Has this happened to anyone. Glad i checked my banking.

I have some sympathy with their position.

You expressed dissatisfaction with the policy, which suggests you were of the view that you never wanted it in the first place. Although they have determined that they had done nothing wrong in selling it, the fact that you have indicated you did not want it means that it would no longer be reasonable for them to keep taking the premium.

Now you say you DID want it after all - which suggests that you were simply trying it on with your complaint (i.e. attempting to defraud them into paying unwarranted redress).

Frankly if a client of mine tried to stitch me up I would get out of any commercial relationship I had with them PDQ.

You complained about it and asked for it to be voided.

That isnt how it works. You made a complaint about having PPI asking for compensation. Compensation is a refund of premiums plus interest and it voids the policy. That was what you were asking for. They refused to refund as they didnt feel it was mis-sold. However, they cancelled as you clearly didnt want it. If you wanted it then you wouldnt have complained.

You cannot have your cake and eat it.

Perhaps next time you go compensation chasing you should check the consequences of making fraudulent complaints.
