many thanks for your time on this ,filled in the FOS /barclays questionnaire and delivered it to the bank for the PPI part, awaiting statements after request as well. got FIL to open account at another bank. changed state pension, pension and pens credit to new account. Awaiting confirmation from these. then if he gets PPI back . then charges plus interest. would you then suggest walk away from 16 remaining payments on loan . CC debt 200 and close bar.. y account. FIL not worried about credit ref. plus i would put firewall around him. because of stress etc. too ill.
thanks again
graham
The PPI paid for both of these loans will be given back to your FIL too, there may not be a lot to walk away from with the loan, do the claim for the CC too as if you win this will clear the balance as well.
I would not walk away from the debt, I see what you are saying but If Barclays know they are in the wrong with the loan and the charges and the CC being given to but food, I would think Barclays may set all of this debt and charges right.
On the other hand your FIL is too old to worry about this now, see what the end result is and if you want him to walk away, then help him, good for you.0 -
ya, I thinks its because I'm so angry with them, I'm probably looking at shafting them ,and too tunnel visioned into getting his own back . but i think your right, get back , whats rightfully his, then make the decisions other then, would you write a long detailed history of whats happened dealing with all complaints and to their CEO (oh sorry they aint got one). or head office. or deal with each complaint individually its all barclays all the same. I would even love to meet with one their people. not just a cust serve rep.
thanks

Send the complaint to head office, stress what they did to a vulnerable old man, a Credit card for food for gods sake !! and all the charges that were incurred over time, tell them this is totally unacceptable and has caused your FIL worry that he does not need and how disgusted you are that a bank should take advantage of anyone.0
