locked samsung phone

child playing around with phone and entered some passcode
he cannot remember which digits he entered
phone is now locked , when i turn it one it asks to enter code.
its was an unlocked phone
samsung E1100
any help appreciated, although its only a cheap and basic phone, it suits me better than the modern ones

Is it asking for a PUK code?

Try taking out the battery.

(Then waiting for a couple of minutes and putting it back in and turning on the phone, obviously!)

have tried taking battery out
it just says pin lock on it ,when turn it on

You could always try the old "0000" code no harm in trying I guess.
