There's my patented way of annoying a large crowd of German bidders.... a 10 day auction on eBay Germany starting at €0.50 and this crowd of long-pocketed, short-armed people had been nibbling away for 9.99 days and it had got to something like €3 - so I buzzed in manually (with 5 seconds to go) and got it for €3.10
Generated about 15 emails from disgruntled outbid people moaning that I wasn't playing the game properly.....
Noticed the next week that a similar item was up for sale from the same seller - I didn't want it, but the same 15 bids were in, from the same 15 users - so I couldn't resist (I didn't even want the second one lol) - and won it for €3.10
That win generated death threats and all sorts of other shenanigans..... So when another item from the same seller appeared I had to lob in my top bid of €5 and it got nibbled away and someone ended up buying it for €5.50 - and then I got a load of abuse for 'forcing' them up above the price they wanted to payThere are 10 types of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't
In many cases it helps if you say where you are - someone with local knowledge might be able to give local specifics rather than general advice0 -

I've just successfully used justsnipe.com for free. :j Now looking forward to receiving Breville AWT healthy grill for £20.07 ( inc. £10 on p+p) - which is somewhat cheaper than £39.97 at Amazon.
1st time I've used sniping software, but was going to be out when auction ended to decided to give it a try.
I worked out my maximum bid taking into account the tenner for p+p, and set justsnipe to place my bid 45 seconds before the end.
I didn't have the nerve to do it any closer, would be interested to hear when other MSEs place their sniping bid?
