My partner pays too much to his ex and he has two children. He pays about £500 and that's above what the CSA recommend. £800 is excessive. I have one child too and don't get anywhere near half of that but I am completely happy with our agreement.
Life is like a box of chocolates, ya never know what yer gonna get ;);)

    Shame he's remarried!
What a generous man...and a good father who obviously wants to look after his daughter. How old is she?

I get £25 per week for 2 teenagers from my ex,he's on good money but works for the family business and they hide his income very effectively...how the other half live eh??

Don't see the point anymore in offering advice to people who only want to be agreed with...

Your BIL should be paying 15% of his takehome pay LESS 2/7 of this as he has his daughter overnight for those 2 nights, HOWEVER, if he works out the average number of nights per year (including of course the school holidays) and divides this by the number of weeks, he may find that it works out at 3 nights per week. He needs to address this carefully, as he seems happy to be supporting his daughter, but it could upset the mother's finances quite heavily, and this could affect the daughter. Perhaps he could arrange to reduce it gradually until it reaches the rate at which the CSA suggest he should pay? He may find in the future that he needs the extra money on which to live as it is almost half his income which is too much really, and he needs to tread carefully to get it sorted out. It is all very well saying that the ex would be difficult, but she may be relying on the money herself, afterall, it was agreed by them both, so he needs to have regard to her circumstances, in the same way she should have regard to his - which is why I suggested the gradual reduction.

Your BIL can contact the CSA himself to get an assessment done, however i agree that he needs to tread carefully in order for his contact not to be withdrawn.

I was just wondering on the amount that was agreed is BIL possibly paying spousal maintenance too (from his divorce) and that is why the figure is higher than the norm?

This is a do-it-yourself test for paranoia: you know you've got it when you can't think of anything that's your fault.

Depending on the age of the child... £200 per week!!???

Does that include private school fee's etc?
It does seem very high to me.
