What are these called (part of a gas boiler)?

i.e. the blue box that is connect to each pipe, one for downstairs heating, one for upstairs heating and the other for heating water?

The one for heating the water is broken, and I was wondering what to call them on the phone to the gas repair man?

Picture Looks like a diverter valve (x2)?

Closest example i can see is a horstmann (pictures somewhat fuzzy).

They are ZONE valves to isolate supply's
ie hot water only for summer. The blue boxes are the motorised actuators(electrical) and can be replaced seperatly from main valve body.

Not necessarily on some zone valves you can't just replace the actuator you need to replace the whole thing although you can replace the motor, I've never seen blue zone valves before so I don't know if they can be replaced separately.

Not certain if Horstmann are blue.

Other than that the only blue valves I can think of are BG badged Drayton ones.

MMMmmm obviously a few not old enough to recognise em eh ;)

Course you could try looking for a name on the valve, actuator or inside the actuator cover, but chances are it will need a complete replacement so you will need to know the type and ways its wired.

Who ever you call SHOULD know but may need a small upgrade?

This is what i thought it looked like, which is why i suggested horstmann although to be honest i've never seen one in the "flesh" so to speak.

Thanks all. They look exactly like those Horstmann motorised valve thats linked above. Interestingly the website says they come with a 2 year guarantee even though when it was fitted the gas man said I'd only a 1 year guarantee.
I wouldn't tackle anything to do with gas myself but is this something other DIYers would replace themselves?

Almost certainly a Horstmann two port motorised valve. There is a photo of one in the Screwfix catalogue www.screwfix.com
part number 94189. The vent holes on the sides match up.
    Try www.horstmann.co.uk for more details.

if it's a removable head then yes you could do it yourself, just make sure the electric is switched off to the heating circuit then wire in the new one one wire at a time that way you won't get confused as to which wire goes where, if it's not a removable head then the whole valve will need changing which will involve draining down the heating system.

When you say it is broken do you mean it won't come on, or the hot water comes on if the heating is on?
