unlocking iphone

Ive got an iphone 3gs and ive given notice to 02 regarding ending the contract. They offered to unlock the phone for free and they sent me a message saying the phone has been unlatched and to go to itunes to sync the phone and complete the process. i logged into itunes and attached my phone but nothing happened and i could not work out what to do.

Can anybody guide me regarding the sync in itunes please

Connect to itunes, do a complete factory re-set, at the end of your re -install it will say ' Congratulations you're phone is unlocked ', very easy, updates all firmware etc sets phone back to new. Done it with my 3GS on Vodafone. Look on you tube it shows you a clip on there.

Further to this:

If you want to keep all your contacts, photos, etc.

1. Back up your iPhone
2. Then do a complete factory reset (after this iTunes will prompt that your phone is unlocked)
3. Restore your iPhone from your previous back up

Everything will be exactly the same as before, but unlocked.

What I did was out in the other SIM and the phone asks for a the unlock code, then sync it in itunes and it unlocks.

Have you put a different sim in? If you havent the phone may hve unlocked but may not have told you its unlocked.
