Advice on contract cancelling please
I have had a phone on 3 network, well over the inital contract time. In April cancelled my contract. Apparently 3 have charged me cancellation fee, and 3 months for an inactive sim. They say it's because I didn't use my pac code. At no time have I been asked for this. Can 3 do this? If not, what is the best course of action?

When you cancel a contract and want to keep the number you ask for a PAC and then provide this to the new phone network operator so they can port your number over. If you dont do this the number remains active with your original provider.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

If you asked for a PAC and didn't use it within 30 days, the account will continue and you will continue to be charged until you cancel or port your number. It's standard practice and perfectly legal.0

3 Did cancel the contract and charged for that, then after cancelation took 3 monthly payments! If you asked for a PAC and didn't use it within 30 days, the account will continue and you will continue to be charged until you cancel or port your number. It's standard practice and perfectly legal.0 -
So you rang them up/wrote a letter saying that you wished to terminate your contract? You're sure you didn't ask for a PAC code?
Did they write back confirming the contract would be cancelled? How did you tell them you were cancelling? Hopefully you send a letter recorded delivery and have a copy to hand?0 -
If you were outwith the minimum period of your contract then once you have given notice that you wish to cancel you should only be liable for the notice period. The exception is as noted above where if you request you PAC and then dont use it the contract continues as before.0
