The OP makes it clear he goes round peoples houses and beats up his staff if they steal from him etc so a bit like the police hahaOh i dont know...the Prime minister is well paid and he is a baboon.:D
How much do prostitutes get..they seem very enthusiastic to earn there wages,as do the police..esp when they get to beat innocent people up..
Id be interested to know what th job was...for all we know it might have been picking peanuts out of elephant poo.0 -

So..........
If I had no money and I had to feed my kids, I would pick anything out of elephant poo. I saw my father steal a 1cwt bag of coal by scaling 2 lots of electric railway lines and walking with it on his shoulders at 2am in the morning to make sure his kids were warm next day in the middle of winter because there was no money coming in.
Jesus wept, todays people are so bloody spoilt, Ive done some disgusting jobs in my time, though not thought as that at the time, it was a means to an end. The end being paying the rent and feeding the kids,
Gutting chickens, Turkeys, tatie picking so knackered you are doing it on your hands and knees, grabbing eggs from under chickens and getting your hands pecked to hell, You dont know your bloody born these days with your income support and your council tax discount and whatever else the government throw at you. Most people dont have a work ethic anymore, greed and gluttony prevails unfortunatelymake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Are flexi-time arrangements feasible? They help people fit work around their daily life. Would it have been an issue if she turned up 2 hours late and stayed 2 hours longer?it's like she's trying to get herself fired - second week and turned up two hours late. I'm now of the opinion she took the job not to lose JSA.
Edit: We're paying £17.5k for an office junior, so more than min wage.Wanted a job, now have one. :beer:0 -
We have good role models, in the form of employers, for this. If employers expect an honest day's work, for an honest day's pay, from their employees - perhaps they should do likewise? The labour market at the bottom end (minimum wage) isn't far off what slavery used to be like. Most people dont have a work ethic anymore, greed and gluttony prevails unfortunately
Fortunately, in a world where greed and gluttony prevails, there will ultimately be multiple financial crises (ring any bells?), money will no longer have any value, and ultimately society will have to move towards Stateless Communism. When that begins to happen, we'll see the richest people desperately trying to cling to the last of the dregs that afford them the largest share of the world's resources.
Posts like this https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4050093 show how difficult it is in the real world.

Firstly to the 'pay peanuts' brigade, how do you suggest companies remain competitive if we pay unskilled workers who are training and don't produce the required amount more than their worth? Manufacturing in the UK is up against it anyway with such a high cost base. I could quite easily get my products shipped in from china, but I choose to keep control over things like volume and quality. To that end, yes we start people on the minimum wage, but after 3 months re re assess them. I think I mentioned before a man we took off an employment scheme. The govt pay his waged for 6 months then we get the option to keep him on. I decided to exercise this option and promptly offered him a 25% pay rise!! He turned it down as it would effect his households other benefits and he would be worse off!
I have had a number of people who 'want' to be sacked including a new starter being late 3 times in his first and only week. You see, I would expect people to invest in themselves. If there is a carrot of better wages just 3 months down the line, why not try and impress the boss to make themselves invaluable and start pushing the £10 ph?
To the person who suggests bosses do nothing than spin in their leather chairs ha ha try 14 hour days, 7 days a week, less than minimum wage with the option of losing your home, kids and marriage because you are never there. Fair enough after a number of years if you are of the minority who makes it you may reap your rewards, but surely you would deserve that.
Miss Sarah, stop stalking me, its boring now, youre being obsessive!0 -
.It seems to be the norm that you do as little as possible for as much as possibe in society at the moment.
If you can get some people who have committment, and want to learn, they would be willing to get on bloody bikes to get to work, those are the people who want to do it, even for minimum wage. Its a need.
I really dont think anyone should be having a pop at the OP, he is giving someone a chance to progress to better income, and good for him.
Hope you find someone soon who you deserve.
Thanks for that very helpfull.
So unemployed people just deserve crap jobs do they? With employers taking advantage of the recession and getting by with paying as little as legally possible for rubbish uninteresting work.
If your so enamoured with the OP offer then you get on your bike and you do it. You seem to think alike so maybe you deserve each other.
The facts are that that theres nothing you can do about the fact that lots of people wont do crap jobs. It used to be that very undesirable jobs were well paid to attract people,e.g I know a few years ago factories used to pay 20k plus near me for basic work.
At the end of the day people have choices and they are making them.0 -

Why should the OP alter his operations to accommodate a seemingly lazy worker who can't or won't get out of bed and would likely be happier in the holding room of the Jeremy Kyle show?
Get rid OP and get someone who wants to work instead of sponging.I know a few years ago factories used to pay 20k plus near me for basic work.
And I noticed you stated 'used to pay'
Are those factories still there?
And where I used to work, machine operators were earning over £30,000 per annum ..........very likely a contributory factor why it moved production to Eastern Europe as operating costs made the production unit unviable.0 -

My thoughts exactly!
We[STRIKE]'ve[/STRIKE] t[STRIKE]aken[/STRIKE]ook on a girl in one of the back offices who ended up going home in tears the other week, as all she wanted to do was make tea all day.
OH's exact words were 'you don't have a (omitted) clue, do you?' and needless to say I refuse to pay someone nearly £25k a year to make/drink tea!
Needless to say, she was sanctioned accordingly, too!

I doubt it.
Funny thing is, and why I'm reading the forum tonight, is we have taken on a new employee and it's like she's trying to get herself fired - second week and turned up two hours late. I'm now of the opinion she took the job not to lose JSA.

OMG where in the country are you? I'll work my *** off for that kind of money! And come in 2 hours EARLY! If and when she leaves can I have an interview?
She is a fool to throw that job away if it 17.5k a year. I have 10 years + experience in my field and get minimum wage.
Makes me feel quite sick.0
