Why doesn't anyone mention Green Flag? My partner uses them and they are fine. The AA launched into a character assassination when I mentioned the price I was quoted (£21.20 against £62) Just like previous years they reduced the quote, this time to £32 and I still refused - out of principle really. I hate the way they treat loyal customers. They offered me some sort of free roadside insurance and are going to send me a card "so I can compare with a year with Green Flag" not sure what that was about but anyway it's free.
  • As above last year and all the years before I have had to ring AA to request the same price as a new customer this year the cost has. Jumped. From £87 to a staggering £141 up £54 pounds on last year!!! Wonder what Watchdog would make of this well known company making such a massive killing on some poor !!!!!!s oversight!!! It's almost THEFT isn't it???

Oh my life don't be so dramatic, it's not theft it's business.

You don't like it you don't pay it. Simples. If someone can't keep an eye on their own financial matters then that's their fault, not the AA's.

It's not like they don't tell everyone well in advance what the next year's cost will be. Plenty of time to do something about it if it's too expensive.

  • Been hundreds of posts on here about both the RAC and AA hiking their renewal costs . The more loyal you are to them the more they load your renewal.
As an example, phone either of them and state that you are a potential customer but would like to know the basic undiscounted fee for the particular schedule you want. They will not tell you because they do not have one, they tailor their charge on the basis of what they assess you will swallow. Go elsewhere.

  • This has happened to me too, I've paid by direct debit for years and the cost (joint membership) has been increasing steadily. I queried it last year and got the cost down to roughly the same as new membership. Got the quote through this year and it had gone up to £256, approx 77% increase. They must be having a laugh. I've got it down to £150 which is still slightly more than others but only £5 more than last year.

I'd personally just cancel each year, then each year rebook with a cash back site, which is what I do with car and house insurance.

Actually what I'd really do ( and do) is give up on race/aa and use Autoaid, both cars fully covered for less than £40, yes, I'd need to pay and claim back but have a cash back credit card I would use if needed. No silly games at renewal times, no massive hikes. Exactly how I like it :-)
