Like insurance companies, they must be hoping for the auto-renew brigade to just auto-renew their membership without any questions.
And like insurance companies they will soon drop their price if you moan.0 -
I've just cancelled my AA policy.
I gave my reasons, including the fact that the price was too high on the renewal. The lady said that she could look to see if further discount could be offered, but I said that if that were the case then it should have been put on the renewal notice. The answer was that "that is how most companies work". If that is the case, then why do businesses encourage churn due to such using methods? I thought that it costs businesses more to market and get new customers than retain existing ones.0 -
I have also been upgraded in 2012 to a gold membership I have been with the AA since 1988, having read these posts I checked what they charged me, in 2008 was £126, 2009 was £133, 2010 was £147.50, 2011 was £154.50 and 2012 the year of my Gold Member Upgrade £167. That is for Breakdown and Relay for myself and my son who is now also a gold member and I only added him in 2007.
From what I can remember from the literature I received was by being a Gold Member I got some extra insurance cover abroad and a nice black card.
Perhaps that entitles me to a salute when they have towed me home or repaired my car:)
I did save £50 on the renewal because I have an AA credit card and they give points when you use it so I always use it when filling up or grocery shopping so worth looking into if you want to save on the renewal.
I have no problem with the AA in fact one time I was stuck at work in my Mk5 Cortina it would not start it was hissing down the AA man came out, and it was a snapped cam-belt, he could have so easily towed me home. But he changed it as he had one in the cab saved me a fortune.

one stumbler with Autoaid is that they dont`t cover your partner if your not legally married !??
As Martin says - please be nice - there is no such thing as a stupid question !0 -
Thanks. I am presently looking at AutoAid.
Likewise. The issue I have is I want to ensure I'm covered on the old luxbarge I use to commute.
Lots of places don't want to know becasue it is 17 years old. Previously I'd taken out personal cover on the car and that had covered me on the bike as well.
If AutoAid aren't fussed about vehicle age I think I'll be signing up!What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
What is the AA Gold Membership? Something to do with the AA shareholders I think."Retail is for suckers"

My grandmother transferred her AA account to my name when she was no longer able to drive. This will be the third year running that I will have to ring up (on a 0843 number too!) and tell them that the £122 they will automatically take from my account is too high, again.
This account has been open for 56 years this year!
I got my renewal letter a few weeks ago and it stated that I would automatically be upgraded to "gold". I don't need or want any of these "benefits" and I really don't care for the "rewards" either; they're all a bit rubbish.
There is no reward for any form of loyalty these days!Proud to be dealing with my debts!0 -

When I get my renewal, i research the cheapest (usual online) and cancel the cover and reapply.. Usually saves a fair bit and a number of arguements! Seems silly but they caught me out once, never again!!!0
