Ok, I've finally spoken to someone useful at Marbles. He confirmed that there is a charge of 2.75% per transaction and an additional 1.5% for cash advances. I complained about the other person I spoke to and have been assured that he will be slapped with immediate effect.What?0

Right, I've now phoned Egg and been told the following. Cash advances are subject to a fixed fee of £2, regardless of the amount. Purchases incur no extra charges, but they start earning interest at 12.3% straight away. Unfortunately, I have my interest-free car insurance on there, so further purchases will muck that up. I could always transfer the car insurance away to another card, but it's all getting a bit fiddly and time-consuming.What?0

Is there a charge for using my Egg Card abroad?
When you use your Egg Card to pay for anything in a foreign currency, there's a charge of 2.65%. This charge is added to your purchase amount, so it doesn't appear separately on your statement. To keep things simple, everything is automatically converted into sterling when it's shown on your statement.
Is there a fee for cash advances?
There's a fee of 2% of the cash advance (with a minimum fee of £2). However, if you are already an Egg customer when you apply for an Egg Card, you won't be charged the cash advance fee. Interest is charged from the day the cash advance shows on your account. The interest rate is 17.9% pa variable.
2%+2.65%=4.65%
P.S. Information that 'Purchases ... start earning interest at 12.3% straight away' is also incorrect.0 -
And that's the last time I phone these people for information! Seriously, who trains them? Has the day really gone where I can phone a company for information about their services and be given the correct information? I checked several times with both the Marbles and Egg representatives that the information they were giving was correct. They are either liars or stupid.What?0
