Exchange Rate for Euro's (lump sum)

Hi ppl,

Just wondering if you can give me any help. Me and my girlfriend have two holidays booked for this year, thus meaning we'll have to get some euro's. Does anyone know of any good exchange rate offers for buying £1,000 worth
of Euro's in one shot. Just thought buy buying all at once, we may get a better rate....

Hope someone can help.

Cheers

The best ever rate you will get in .... any cash machine in your destination by using Nationwide or Liverpool Victoria debit or cash card! Did you read
Save 6% by using the cheapest way to spend overseas?
P.S. And not only for lump sum but even for small amounts!

If you can't get one (I was refused, too many cards me thinks!) I found Travelex was the cheapest, even in comparison to student accounts (they tend to not charge commission).

They also do an optional £3.50 charge for buyback, I'm not sure if this is worth it - can anyone shed any light on this? I thought it was a good deal but then though how often do you come back with left over spending money, so it may just be an extra way of them making money.

Is there any articles by Martin on exchange rates, holiday money etc?

I believe almost everybody (with rare exceptions) can get at least cash card.

I don't think I've ever seen a discount offered for quantity. Marks & Spencer usually have a good exchange rate and if you pay by M&S card (thus earning M&S points) you won't get charged any commision if you pay off your next statement in full. Hope that makes sense!

I've got a Natwest Maestro (Switch), a Smile Visa Debit an Egg Card and MBNA Card so would it be better to use on of these abroad then to exchange euros over here??? I'm a bit confused - doesn't take much! If it helps Natwest charge 75p on each foreign transaction where as the others charge 2.65%.

Anyone shed any light, I thought it would be best to get Euros from Travelex. I can't get anymore credit cards and don't really want to open another current account.

    Natwest:
Maestro at point of sale - Flat fee £0.75
Exchange Rate Transaction Fee - 2.65%

Read 'Rates and charges' for all your other cards in T&Cs.
Then read 'Save 6% by using the cheapest way to spend overseas' and apply for Nationwide debit or cash card!

Is it right that you suggest to withdraw euros abroad and then exchange them here back to pounds in order to get some profit?
    :rotfl: Are you serious? :rotfl:

2p off is still 2p off!
