Maybe this only applies to new sellers, as Ive set up a new selling account, but half the time i try to email people i get a screen saying i cannot email them unless I use "ask seller a question" etc.
Are there new rules to prevent you just contacting other members to email them. If so its riduclous.
the screen mentions its to prevent unsolicited emails... but how ever are you meant to email people?!?!? Are we now restricted to emailing sellers only, or people bidding on our items.

Oh well, its almost funny how desperate they are to prevent as selling outside their site.
Heaven forbid they miss out on a couple of quid in sellers fees!!0 -
Their site, their rules! My TV is broken!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

Sure, it's ridiculous and inconvenient if you wanted to spam, auction interfere or offer an off-ebay deal. Ebay don't want you doing any of those things.
On .com you can't even message other people posting on the ebay community forums until you have 5 feedback - perhaps they've implemented something similar over here.My TV is broken!

Why do you want to email someone who is not selling or buying an item?..Are there new rules to prevent you just contacting other members to email them. If so its riduclous…

I have occasionally been frustrated by these rules but I don’t think they are ridiculous.
Ebay is primarily an auction site, not an email service nor a chat forum.
Ebay allows any registered user to communicate with any other ebayer who has an item listed for sale. It also allows sellers to communicate with bidders.
It does not normally allow communications with anyone not actively selling or bidding. These restrictions prevent Spam and other malicious or nasty emails as well as protecting Ebay’s interests.
Marks and Spencers do not allow other vendors to set up a stall inside an M&S store and sell rival products. Ebay are trying to prevent the on line equivalent.0
