well my little "angel" maisie is 7 months and is driving me coo coo bringing me "presents"
nearly every day she brings me something but her latest thing is to bring me rabbits :eek:
on friday i was getting ready to go out and was in my bedroom and up the stairs she trots with a bloody great big rabbit in her gob, she plops it by my feet and then hides under the bed :rotfl:
i am not joking this rabbit was bigger than her
so today she comes running in with another one in her gob luckily i chased her out and she let it go so luckily this one survived the one on friday didnt
i have also had a slow worm :eek: and loads of birds and voles and mice ect
she has had 3 collars so far and can manage to take them of because she knows that the bell will stop her from catching her "prey" :rotfl: she is so flaming clever
i also have her sister daisy but she isnt bothered about hunting she is too "girly" and just like to be cuddled and look pretty :rotfl:
does anyone have any advice ?? i didnt have tghis with my last cat biscuit just the odd bird and mouse ect
thanks for any help

if she's caught it and it's dead you might as well let her eat it. Waste not, want not. Make sure she's wormed obviously.
She won't associate eating it as a reward as to her the reward is catching it and pleasing you.
I'm not aware of ethical methods to stop her hunting without you being there to enforce it 24/7. I'm thinking if you could spray her with something that smells of 'danger' to prey then she'd have less success but I'm not sure what you could spray that is cat friendly and easy to purchase?0 -
Sorry, no helpful suggestions, but a passing thought. Without wanting to freak you out entirely, where my bro lives if his dog manages to catch a rabbit it's usually because it's already ill and slow with myxomatosis. You might want to check out if it's ok for the cat to eat, if you think she's likely to have a nibble? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

No harm in eating a myxi rabbit, it's a man-made virus that only affects rabbits.
You've got an animal that has hunting instincts and you let it roam where it can hunt, I don't think there's really all that much else you could do. Perhaps try different designs of collars that she can't remove so easily (but still unsnap if caught) or try shutting her in at certain times of the day?0 -
luckily she didnt eat the rabbit she caught it and brought it in to me
she had worms about a month ago even though she was wormed and i think it is from all the prey she is catching
she has been wormed again i had some syrup from the vets so really she should be ok for another couple of months
she is a little horror bless her i came home from work last week and there was feathers everywhere in my living room
i know she is just trying to please me but when it is every day it i just cant believe it

oh she just loves you - bless.
I really don't know how you can stop it but, one word of advice, don't scream when you receive a prezzie. When you scream or make a loud fuss they think that their gift isn't good enough and will go out and catch something else for you.0 -
Ohhh so you get a ree rabbit and free stuffing (wormas etc) and you complainig? LOL

apart from stopping her go out, the only other way is to move!! lol
i used to live in the country and my 2 cats brought in a variety of dead birds and mammals, but when i moved to a town, they didn't catch anything.Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!
