Recycling old phone - cancel existing contract?

I just upgraded my phone as phones4u bought me out of my current contract which ends in November. My question is, after reading the T and Cs on mazuma mobile etc, they all say to cancel current contracts on any phone you send to them. I guess its because if someone stops paying the phone company can block the phone based on the IMEI number?

Me intention is to continue with both contracts untill my old one finishes as my old contract has more minutes etc and to save porting my old number over, I just put my old sim in my new phone. If I send my phone off will they reject it?

That's a very simple answer. NO.

I guess that by 'bought out' you mean that they paid you a lump sum sufficient for paying for the old contract until the end of the min term. If so, don't forget to cancel it by giving a notice 30 days before the min term expires and make sure that they do cancel it.
