Vodafone price increase...

Hi, Im currently 9 months in on a 24 month business contract with Vodafone, ive been on the same tarrif for the last 3 years with costs me £25 a month + vat.

I recieved a text from Vodafone a few days ago telling me

"We are making changes to some older business price plans to bring them into line with our current price plans. In some cases these changes will result in a small increase in some customers' monthly payments"

This will mean an increase of £1 per month on my tarrif.

So what i would like to know is, would this action constitute a breach of contract on Vodafones part leaving me free to terminate the contract without penalty?

Thanks in advance :)

Have you checked your contract that they are breaching allegedly? I am pretty sure it has a clause allowing them to increase prices in line with inflation. At least this is the case for private customers.

There is a clause that allows them to make small changes a certain percentage I believe

    **As do every Network provider**
  • They do have a clause that states they can increase by small amounts, but this does not hide the fact that they are still ripping people off.
We recieved a letter stating that they are bringing "old tarrifs" in line with new tarrifs when in fact 4 of the 5 contracts we have with them are under 12 months old. When asked how old is an old tarrif is, the reply was that they are increasing all tarrifs over £25 per month by £1.00 and anything under by £.50p. So in fact their letter is incorrect, they are increasing ALL tarrifs. A preposterous increase.
No sooner do the banks rip us off, then the utility companies, now the phone companies.
Wait until it comes up for renewal - I will remember this.
Why dont they reduce the amount of sponsorship to F1 racing companies and look after "loyal" customers.

I just received my letter today about the increase and am absolutely disgusted with their customer service attitude when I complained about it. Their attitude seems to be "what are you complaining about, its only a pound".

They give no good reason for the increase, just that they are allowed to do so under the terms of the contract and as long as they do not increase it by more than 10% then there is nothing I can do about it.

Its amazing how when they rationalise contracts like this the cost never goes down. Why did they not bring the new contracts in line with the old contracts that were at a lower price?

What is so difficult about letting contracts run till they expire, it is all done on computer anyway so it is not that hard and the longest contract tends to be 24 months so within 2 years they could have all on new contracts anyway.

Well I have 12 months left on my contract and I will not be renewing with them. They will make £24 over the next 12 months on my two phones, but then lose business that on average pays over £1000 per year.

    I agree, Vodafone rip off!!!!
  • Hello all,

I'd hardly call a £1 increase a rip off... IF and thats a big IF the service was good, but over the past year or so I have noticed that the data coverage is nowhere near as good as it should be.

At first I thought it was my old HD2 and old sim, but I have had a sensation with new sim for 12 months ish and its no better its worse if anything but I put that down to a poor handset, (should have gone for the S2. But never mind roll on Aug 2013 and see what the coverage is like, if no better then Im off to orange as my wife is with them and always has a good signal.

    cheers

Customer Service bod that I spoke to was astounded this is happening, but confirmed it was correct, and within the terms of the contract, so LEGALLY there is nothing we can do. Of course, as our Beloved Leader Call Me Dave has told us in the last week, just because something isn't illegal, doesn't mean it is not immoral. I've never heard of line rental price increases mid-contract, and if Vodafone don't drop this idiotic idea then they can kiss goodbye to my business as soon as I am legally able to do so.

Actually every other network has already done this within the last 12 months so Vodafone are just doing the same.

If you feel strongly enough dont forget to let them know your reasons for leaving when you request your PAC.

Everyone complains when they get a price rise, no matter the product. But every network has done it, just you don't notice as much
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
