Shouldn't be much more than a hour's work tops.

You get to the fan by removing the top cover. The screws in the bottom cover usually screw through and into the top cover. There are also 4 top cover screws under the keyboard.

Suggest you use a couple of pieces of A4 (or bigger) paper laid out like the bottom/top covers. As you remove a screw push it through the paper in the corresponding position so you know where each screw belongs.

Compressed air will only move the dust around inside the casing. You need to remove the bottom cover to clear it out properly.
A hoover would suck the dust out.

You might be lucky is some, but on Tosh's dust can form a blanket over the copper fins, the only way is to remove the cover and remove the "blanket"..............

I want to add more memory at same time. It's got 2gb at the moment. Do I just buy another 2gb card ? Is it easy to fit? Model number is Toshiba A210 model PSAFHE-00800PEN.

It also wont suck out fluff that's in the fins of the heatsink. The only sure way is cover off and then use a hoover and a small paintbrush. You should always prevent the fan from spinning under the suction of the hoover as it could damage the fan and/or cause an electrical charge as fans can also be motors.

If it has a single 2GB RAM chip already, you can add another 2GB of the same specification. If it has 2 x 1GB, you can remove one and add a 2GB of the same specifications, or remove both and replace with 2 x 2GB

(If you're running a 32 bit operating system, the maximum it will detect/use is between 3 - 3.5GB)

I always use Crucial. Not the cheapest, but after sales service is second to none

I would get the thing cleaned and working first before buying new RAM. When you're ready to buy the RAM, go to Crucial's site (link above) on the laptop and use the system scanner. It will tell you the spec of the installed RAM and recommend compatible upgrades.

The battery is a4000mAH. There are larger one I found when I looked on the net eg 9000 mAH. Is there any benefit to getting a bigger mAH or doesn't it work/deliver better performance etc. TIA.

Be careful. Your BIOS may not recognise all higher capacity batteries. It will work on those batteries but may not power on/POST unless AC power connected. Check the Toshiba website to see what the highest capacity genuine Toshiba battery spare is for your laptop model, then buy the equivalent of that as a non-OEM generic.
