Bear in mind the larger capacity batteries are often physically larger too. They still fit in place of the existing battery, but will extend out to the rear of the laptop.
How do I add a signature?

I didn't know that thanks. How long do they generally last? I've had the laptop 4 years. Is that about the norm ?

some would say you've done well to get 4 yrs out of a battery...anytime from 6 months to 5+ years is "normal", it depends how you treat it :)

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

Yes I thought it was pretty good but didn't have anything to compare against. :)

In short, carry on using the laptop as you have been. I would add a small caveat of getting a can of compressed air, an air duster, and blowing out the heatsink from the outside of the laptop a few times a year.

It's still overheating so I'm trying to clean the fan as per post number 7 but can't get the back off the laptop. I've undone all the tiny screws that are labelled B6 (all 15 of them) but it's definitely not coming off! There's no pictures in the manual so I can't see what I'm doing wrong! Its a Toshiba A210 model number PSAFHE-00800PEN.
Can anyone help and describe where else I need to unscrew so I can get to the fan to clean it. TIA.

When trying to peel the back open it seems to be stuck down the sides where the pin plugs are & where the cable would go to connect to Internet if u weren't wireless. TIA.

According to the maintenance manual (link above) there are 17 screws on the bottom cover plus 3 inside the battery compartment. You also have to remove:
    • Battery Pack
    • HDD
    • Memory
    • PC Card
    • ODD (CD/DVD)
    • Keyboard
    • Top Cover
to gain access to the fan

    Thank you both.
I thought you just took the back off lol!!
The manual & your list will help. I've also watched a YouTube video so I have a rough idea. I thought it would be a half hour job but never mind I'll set proper time aside once I've read this stuff & I'm going to add more memory anyway so it's worth the time. Thnx a lot.
