Anyone else not received their child benefit payment yet?

Hi there.

My CB was due on the 26th, ie the day RBS/Natwest had their computer meltdown. I hadn't realised HMRC bank with the RBS. I know there's nothing I can do about it - their helpline is gridlocked, they don't even put you in a queue.

Anyone else still waiting for Junes payment??

Who said HMRC bank with RBS?

TCO and CBO have been releasing tax credit and child benefit payments as usual to their claimants.

Give them a call today, they are open until 4PM. Do you have a child aged 16 or 18 due to leave education. If so your payments may have stopped.

I've had my weekly child benefit with no problems, there should be no problems with money in banks now, its just the block of payments in and out on those days there was a problem, anything before or after should not be affected.

How old is your child, have they reached 16, isn't this the time of year they start the mass cull for 16 year olds and cb has to be reapplied, mine was last year and i can't remember when it started but i had to re apply even though they were told at Easter that ds was staying on in school for 6th form.

  • I'm also due mine Monday and I bank with Natwest, normally hits on a Saturday. Also waiting on Child Maintenace from ex's Natwest acc, again normally on the first Monday and would hit on a Saturday and nothing
  • Yep.

All part of the Government Banking Service introduced in April 2008

Only our wonderful politicians could have chosen RBS to handle their money just 5 months before the bank required a massive multi billion pound taxpayer bailout. Now it is slowly dawning on the numbskulls in government that not only is the bank a dead loss financially but that it cant even seem to process the bread and butter day to day transactions of its customers. Fortunately HMRC is only on the periphery of the NatWest\Ulster Bank shambles but it may not dodge the bullet next time.

My child is 9 so there shouldn't have been a problem with the payment, hopefully it will go in monday
  • Hi there
Thanks for the replies. My eldest is 14 so hopefully theyre not getting ahead of themselves. :p

I don't bank with RBS/Natwest but as HMRC do wouldn't that be the problem? Also, my money was due to go in on the day the kerfuffle happened which is why i'm thinking its blocked somewhere.

I'll give them a ring on Monday if nothing goes in.
    Thanks again.
