I made a suet pudding in the microwave last week, syrup in the basin first & stirred tinned pineapple into the mixture. With really thick custard.
    Yummy.

That has reminded me of an old family favourite of Bananas and custard. Hot or cold, it doesn't matter. Must try it again soon.

That's one of my favourite desserts, I like my custard cold and layers of jam swiss roll. :D I made a Lancashire hotpot this week, haven't had that for years.

This is a really unhealthy one, as being told repeatedly by my 12 and 8 yr old :o, but its bring back good memories of being at home as a child.

Fried egg with a runny yolk and chunky home made chips.
Veg stew my mum used to make with a soup mix. I can't make this at home as my OH hates soup mix.

Another is apple and blackberry crumble with custard.

Ooh, I love egg and chips, and beans on toast all of the straightforward easy meals that we used to eat before getting bogged down with sauces etc (which I'm sure are partly responsible for my weight 'issue') My latest rediscovery is banana sandwiches with wholemeal bread, no butter. A quick, easy lunch without a lot of calories and so yummy!

Way back I used to love lamb shanks and pigs trotters (not together !) But since the clebrity(sp) chefs got hold of them they have become for the posh not the paupers. too expensive.

Me too. When I was at school and came home for lunch, my mum used to cook very thin chips in a chip pan where the solid beef lard had to be melted carefully first. The taste was amazing. Some of the hot lard would be poured over the chips and then the soft fried eggs went on top. Served with tomato ketchup and white bread and butter. Delicious

Anyone who likes "Angel Delight!" They have some new flavours/types that when made up are actually like "Ice Cream" I have them but have yet to make them up and check what the flavours are. Bit harder for me to make them up and use them as they always are meant to make four servings and there is only one of me...

Then again, I could eat a larger portion:rotfl:

Love all the suggestions and yes nothing wrong with good old simple fare/comfort food. And many are familiar to me and I have been doing them again in recent years and will try others soon.
