Do you have any recommendations of a good electric boiler?
Apart from running costs are thre any cons of having an electric boiler?
No annual service or maintenance costs, possibly just a visual inspection from time to time. Amptec from Heatrae Sadia or Santon seem to be the market leaders both with 2 year guarantee. There are three types of people in this world...those that can count ...and those that can't!

How many of these walls are outside walls, and what length? Do you know if your walls are cavity with/without insulation or solid? To calculate your heating demand, length of outside wall per room is required. Also, size of windows on any outside walls is required.
Are you on the ground floor, in the middle somewhere or top floor?0 -
Or why not just check the rating of your existing boiler? No free lunch, and no free laptop

My house is an average 3 bedroom semi detached property and the gas boiler is rated at 11.72kW output and is (was when it was working) more than sufficient. I would say that a 6kw electric boiler for a 1 bedroom flat will be fine. You might need a portable electric heater for the extremely cold days but they in reality are only about 1 or 2 weeks every winter. By having an electric boiler you will save by not having annual servicing costs and regular replacement costs. With your low usage most of your gas usage would be at the primary rate and moving that to to secondary rate on the electricity bill does not make a huge difference to the running costs. It has been said that it costs 3.5 times that of gas but in my experience the costs are about 1.5 times that of gas. It depends on your usage.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.
