iphone 4 on the blink

Options
I have an iphone 4 (not 4s) which is 16 months old, on an O2 contract with 8 months left to run. Over the last few days it keeps just shutting down for no reason, and sometimes when I am using it the screen goes all fuzzy and looks like TV interference but coloured IYKWIM. I have to reboot it all the time and sometimes when I do it comes back on but with a plain blue screen and then I have to reboot it again. It's getting more and more often.

I rang O2 today and they talked me through a software update, which hasn't made any difference, and after that they said that it was not under guarantee any longer so I would need to take it to the apple shop.

I don't want to pay a fortune to have it fixed and have never been to the apple shop before - are they likely to charge me alot? Does anyone know what the problem might be?

Do you only get a 1 year warranty with the iphone? Most smart phones come with a 2 year warranty

Apple charge £60ish extra for the second year.
However, to be fair, it is 12 months for BB, LG and Motorola too.

Normal phones yes, apple like to rip people off. Strange though they don't seem to last long the newer the model
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Apple may be more expensive but they also care more about the customer experience. Many people have reported visiting an apple store out of warranty and getting a fix for free, not many other compnaies do that. Apple also do "instant" fixes by instore swaps, again no other company does it, yes they cost more bt the service level is better.

If you or anyone interested in the reliability rate per manufacture, the link below will help you. This may help you to buy the next phone.

Not in my experience. I had to take them to court when an unused two year old ipod was dead out of the box.

    Happily I won.

Hmm no they don't, I have a MacBook pro when plugged into the mains you can get electric shocks. Apple have know about it for years but don't do anything about it

Not in law. Section 5 of the Limitation Act 1980 allows six years to bring an action against a supplier for breach of contract. A manufacturer's warranty with a shorter period does not override your statutory rights against the supplier.

Given that a defect has arisen before one would reasonably expect (taking into account the price paid amongst other factors), you should ask O2 (the supplier) for a repair or replacement under Section 11N of the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982.
