So presumably they need to be bought in Cyprus? Unclear what sort of value they are in relation to standard SIMS.

Yes, they do need to be bought in Cyprus. They are standard SIMs; the data is additional.

We have a house in Cyprus - I'm assuming that you mean the southern (Greek) side and not the Northern (Turkish) side?

There are plenty of places that you can but sims from - Kiosks are open most of the time and sell them

The pricing is very similar for both.
In our experience, we prefer to text to the UK as the cost is 1c (?) per text to anywhere in the world

For calling, we have an account with localphone

We either call or text the uk and ask the folks to call us back, which works out cheaply as long as they have 'inclusive calls'
