how do i download ios 4.3

I want to dowload an app to my iphone but it says i need to install ios 4.3, am not technie at all and dont where to get it from?

can someone please tell me how to do it

Which iPhone do you have?

iOS updates are usually pushed automatically to the device using itunes, but 4.3 isn't compatible with some older iPhones.

Connect it to itunes. Click the iphone in the menu (on left). The status page will show you the version of IOS currently installed. Unless you've disabled automatic update checking, itunes will also prompt you whenever a newer version is available. If you've disabled it, there's a button to check for updates.

Do what Figment says but before you do open iTunes with the phone connected, right-click the phone name in the left-hand pane and choose Backup.

It should backup automatically during sync but better safe than sorry as you'll likely jump from iOS 4.x to 5.x and a major version does a complete wipe first.

I am still struggling to get my phone updated, i have just spent about 40 mins on phone to o2 techni help and still not managed to update.

my iphone 4 has version 4.2.1

when i plug it in to itunes on pc it bring up the prompt that version 5.1 is available but when i try to download and update i get the error message

file could not be updated firmware file not compatible

help anyone???

I'd take it to the genius bar in an Apple store if you can get to one. They will back it up and make sure it has the latest software for you.
