Ebay Debt Collector Letter - getting account back?

I had my ebay account suspended due to i couldn't produce a receipt for an item i was selling.

I was in discussions with them about why they where being so picky etc and didn't pay my ebay fees until the matter was sorted. Ebay in the end stopped replying.

I have since got a letter from IQOR Recovery Services Ltd stating and i quote "your ebay account and your feedback score 0492 will remain suspended until this debt is resolved"

Where do i stand if i pay the bill and they do not give my account back? Is there anyone i can complain to or any laws they will be breaking?

Why was this requested? A little more info required i think to understand the situation a little better...

The item was a gucci purse and as it was a gift from sometime ago. We didn't have the receipt. They requested a receipt to show the authenticity of the item. The item was on a 7 day listing and we where approached 2 days in asking for this. We explained we didn't have this and that we were willing to take some more close up images of the item and packaging but they just closed the account.:(

eBay are (rightly) clamping down on items that could be fake. Don't take it personally. Regardless of whether or not they reinstate your account you still owe the money, they are two seperate issues. I guess all you can do is settle up and see what happens.

Oh, that doesn't sound very fair , have you tried to contact them? I know you say they stopped replying but i think it would be worth chasing them up.....

Yeah i do not mind paying them but its like your paying them under false pretenses if the account is not reinstated.

As the previous poster said, the two matters are seperate issues, and you really should have paid the fees. Does the £200 cover just the ebay fees or have IQOR added a whack of fees to the debt?

Ebay unfortunately have been poor in the past at preventing fakes from being sold, resulting in lawsuits against ebay from the big boys. Ebay have been sued by Louis Vutton in France for allowing fakes to be sold.

So they are obviously now trying to be pro-active. I suppose in their defence it would be hard to tell from photographs whether an item is fake or not as there are some good fakes out there that could pass for real in a photograph, and only by handling could you notice.

You do not have a leg to stand on if you pay it and still do not get your ebay account back, ebay will not automatically give you your account back for paying the fees. There is clearly another issue with the account that needs resolving if they have asked for a receipt for the item you sold , it usually means they suspect it is either stolen or you do not really have the item to sell.

I had a similar issue with a designer dress I was selling. After a lot of back and forth they eventually agreed to accept a scan of my passport, 2 current utility bills and and a picture of me holding up the dress to prove I had it in my possession. As other replies have rightly pointed out, the fees and the suspension are two separate issues; but maybe you could ask Ebay if they would accept the same proofs from you as these are pretty easily provided. Once this is done then the suspension on your account should be lifted, provided you pay your fees.
